A custom Colt Govenment model .45 on the nightstand and a Mossberg 500 with 00 buck close by. The wife sleeps with her Hi Power. A Stream light is right next to the .45 and a good dog at the foot of the bed. Pitty the family of the SOB who enters my castle, they will be missing that family member!

In the bedroom:
Beretta 9mm Centurion DAO with 124 grain Speer Gold Dots
S&W 640 Centennial with 125 grain .38+P Speer Gold Dots
NAA Guardian .32 with 60 grain Federal Hydra Shoks

In my office (other end of the house):
S&W 2 1/2" 66 with 125 grain .38+P Speer Gold Dots

I've been using HK USP Compact .45 ... but after reading this thread, I think I might have to add a shotgun, rifles, and a couple more pistols just to keep up with the Jones'!

GP100 under my pillow. 92FS on the night stand. Mossberg 500 under the bed. M1 Garand in the hall closet. Hidden in various locations: IAI 1911 clone, Winchester 94AE in .357.

For backup I also have a Louisville Slugger.

Dang...expecting company?

Honestly I worry about my guns being stolen more than I worry about needing one for self defense, however I usually keep a handgun handy and loaded. When I leave, I lock it up.

My HD weapon is a Colt Magnum Carry .357 loaded with 158 gr hp's, though I've been known to use an FEG Hi-power 9mm as well.

Kimber Custom loaded with 7 rounds of Rem FMJ and a spare mag with the same in it . I also have a surefire z3 combat light by the bed to. If things get really bad i have a Colt preban M4 loaded with 28 rounds of Win 40gr HP

I see a lot of people depend on the Revolver. At least two of you
a CZ.

Here is what i rely upon for HD.

My CZ P-01, with a 13 shot magazine full of SENTRY 9mm +P..
Streamlight M-3 tactical lamp

Beretta 1201 FP Police Shotgun..S&B 00 BUCK

Taurus PT-92 Stainless with Speer 124 gr +P Gold Dots.

Custom CZ75 with 3 hi-caps full of 115 gr. Remington +P+

I live in a Prison Town:)

The Boomstick.

An NEF "Pardner" single shot 12 gauge with the barrel cut down to 20", and a big rubber recoil pad installed over the stock (after I put a few rounds of 3" magnum slugs through it, and lost use of my left shoulder for a week). Loaded with one round of Federal Low-Recoil 00 buck, with more available.

Not very tactical, I guess, but I like to play with my other guns. Take them out, hold them, take them apart, dry fire, etc. The NEF just stays taped to the back of my dresser. I can leave it loaded indefinately since the hammer isn't cocked.

I don't believe there's been a breaking-and-entering in my neighborhood in the last 20 years. (The houses are small, the people aren't rich...everybody has a hunting shotgun, prettymuch...not exactly prime robbery material.) My biggest concern is, I don't know, having a rabid dog or something in the street threatening kids. But, if the need arises, the shotgun will work on two-legged critters just as well, I should think.

Right now it is my Ruger KP-89 loaded with 124gr. Hydrashoks. May be downgraded to backup after I test/break-in my new toy (see sig.) :D

4 weapons in 3 locations, S&W model 13, Ruger Speed-Six, Rossi 720, and a Mossberg 500. :D

Dang...expecting company?

************************************************

Not expecting company but not ignoring the possibility. My neighborhood used to be pretty nice but now we have a scattering of meth labs and dealers and a lot of kids (teens and early twenty-somethings) who use drugs and drink alot. I've had to chase a few kids off my property before and a kid cranked up on meth can be pretty oblivious to the fact that I intend to protect my home and family. I wouldn't put it past them to try to break in to score some cash or valuables in order to afford their next drug purchase . . . if they're stupid enough to try it while I'm home then wherever I am in the house is where I'll need some self-defense options.

When my family's safety is on the line, lethal force is always authorized.

More than likely a Hi Power but also a Kimber Classic shares duty.

For years I kept a Ruger Security Six 2 3/4 by the bed, After the range master started turning down the lights so I could try some low light shooting I decided there is way way way too much muzzle flash with the CorBons 357s I was shooting. Rather than try a bunch of different ammo for less flash I switched to the BHP.

I havent removed the mag safety on this one so when I leave in the morning I drop the magazine in an out of the way place where its unlikely to be found, thereby rendering the pistol useless for use against the dog, everything else is locked up in the safe.
