Have any of you ever had that special feeling when you held a gun for the first time and you knew it was destiny?
Funny that for a bunch of you it would be the 1911. For me I checked them out from time to time at the gunshop and never really liked them nearly as much as the hype. Then I shot one. Well, when I bought my Charles Daly to see if I might like a 1911 and got it on the range, that is when the 1911 finally did it for me. Now that I already love the 1911 they do that for me, put it in my hand and it feels right, but that didn't come right away.
For the feeling like the gun is just right the first time I put it in my hand, I've had a few:
-M16: The first gun I ever shot. It was Basic Training, Ft. Jackson, SC late Oct or early Nov 1989 (definately didn't shoot it until well into Nov, but it first hit my hands either late Oct or early Nov).
-Marlin 60: It was my first gun so my heart skipped a beat or two when I first handled it.
-Taurus 82: It was my first handgun so I got all giddy for about a month every time I touched it.
-S&W 65LS: My first S&W, my first .357mag. It still feels good to put that one in my hand.
-CZ 75B: I loved this gun long before I ever shot one, then I shot one and loved it more, then I finally bought one and wow.
-S&W M19: Heck, just about any S&W revolver does this for me.
-Taurus 85CH: It just feels right
-S&W M57: Ok, so I love revolvers.
-Taurus PT 911, S&W 908 and S&W 910: These all feel very similar to me, and they all feel like they were made for my hand. I
will own one of each, but I don't own any yet.
-Winchester 94: When I got my 30-30 just over 2 years ago I didn't really think I'd like a lever gun (I was all ga ga over the ARs, AKs and even Mini-14s at the time). Not tactical. But they were economical so I picked one up and they've been my favorite ever since (I really love both of my current 94s, the original 30-30 and a newer .45LC) and I will be adding more.
