So Sprice...have you made any progress on which pistol you think you might chose?

I have fired the BHP, the Glock 17 and personally I really like my M9A1. It is, now, the most accurate 9mm I have ever shot. The funny thing was that it required a looong break-in.

It never jammed, but the accuracy didn't dial-in until around the 350th round down the barrel. I don't know if it was just part wearing on themselves until they polished themselves out or what? But now it seems crazy accurate. This target is one full mag at 35 yards, slow firing with a two handed hold:

These will mostly be range guns, but with shtf and home defense in the back of my mind.

In that case I would go with the G19/17. I'm not a huge Glock fan or a 9mm fan to be honest. I'm familiar with the M9, and they're fine too. In fact, any of those would be nice to have handy. It's tough to beat the reliability of a Glock mixed with the abundance of the 9x19 NATO round.

I'd get a better deal on the Glock then I could the other 3. Ultimately leaving me more of my budget for accessories like extra magazines or a holster, or more ammo. My g/f has G19s laying around already so she might not even notice a new one. It also adds another pistol of the same platform to the household. I could use her ammo when I ran out. I could reload her ammo when she ran out. If you can get past the "holding a plastic brick" part they're a nice reliable pistol.

I prefer the big slow rounds, but, I also see the logic in having such an abundant combo.

I think highly of all those guns. I'd lean towards a G19/17 or the HP for myself, but they'd all do.

Of course, my main 9mm squeeze is a 3rd gen smith at the moment... no poll is ever perfect.

;)

Of the ones you listed my preference would be:
1 Hi-Power
2 Sig 226
3 Beretta 92FS
1,999,999 Glock.
Of course I would prefer a Walther P99 to all of them.

FWIW

Anything but Glock. Also consider Walther P99 and something from H&K.

Va herder

For the sake of this poll, I went with the G17. It is the best of what is listed.

However, it's not he best 9mm that I own. I have a G17, XD 9, XDm 9, SIG 226 navy, Beretta 92fs, S&W model 59, M&P9. Those aren't the best. The best 9mm I own is my M&P 9 pro series

Not on your list, but a S&W 5906 is one of the finest 9mm's ever produced and can be found with adjustable sights-something else to consider...

Any on your list would be fine. I voted for the Beretta because I like shooting them the most. I like the Sig the least because of the trigger, I haven't tried a Sig trigger that I really liked.

If someone gave me one of those handguns...it would be the best. Until then I'll stick with my M&P.

...take into consideration I am joining the army soon...
Since the Beretta is likely to be your duty gun in the military, I say start with that one and practice, practice, practice. So that if you ever need to save your life with your service handgun, when you are in a real battle, you'll have all that experience to fall back on.

If it fits your hand and you don't mind the grip angle or the trigger pull, you really can't go wrong with a Glock 9mm.

That is what is wrong with my G19. The grip doesn't fit my hand well. The G22 I have does though whichis the same as the G17 in size. But - still the grip isn't the best. I went with what I have and know - so I went with the Sig over the Glock and the Beretta. Browning would be nice but I have never shot nor handled...

i hate cz's and springfields and all your other guns I havn't mentioned, i don't like hk's either. just for the reccord. They're not being added to the poll.

So, considering the scope of the OP's request, you'd turn your nose up on what are arguably the four finest production 9mm's ever produced? Nice contribution to his thread....

Why the sarcasm Denali? Its not needed her at THR.

Curious to know why the OP specified the "Italian" made Beretta's? The one I own is Italian from the early 90's, just wondering if there is something inherently better about them.

Posted by Denali as a response to the above note:
Yes, there is!

First you slam the above mentioned poster for not contributing and then you post this? How does "Yes there is!" help anyone understand YOUR contribution?

I have read enough of your posts to quite confidently assess you as being a troll or having troll like characteristics. Please start being constructive in a manner that is congruent with THR or don't comment in an inappropriate fashion.

Thank you.
Hey, why don't you run to the mods and offer up your sage advice on how we should all conform to YOUR standards or else!

Seriously, you are really out of line! 69 posts coupled to 30-days worth of membership, and you're grading our worthiness? I answered the OP, further it's of no value to anyone to drop into a guy's thread and simply post none of the above, I mean whats the point?

Stop taking yourself so seriously, and you are welcome!
