What is the best Ak pistol grip?

Anyone know the difference between the two different ERGO models? The descriptions are basicly identical, and they both come with the same surface options, but one is the "classic" and one is "new." What's up with that?

Personally, I can't stand the Tapco grips. I like the Galil pistol grip a lot on a stamped AKM. I like the original AKM grip on milled AKs for some reason, however. The Galil grips don't feel right to me on a milled AK clone.

I had not seen the Ergo grip before. It looks promising.

Those Ace grips were really nice. I've got their FAL grip on my S308. Unfortunately it looks like they don't make them anymore. The only grips I see on their website are the Tapco SAW grips.

The "Classic Tactical" is more of an upright angle than the "New AK" model. My feeling, if you're more of a bench shooter, then the "New AK" would be your best bet. If youre more of an upright/CQB shooter then the "Classic" is the one for you.

I just got one of the Ergo "New AK" model grips, and there's a big piece of info that they should be more up-front about.

The grip is simply their standard AR15 grip packaged with a plastic adapter made by Ace.

I wish I'd gone with the "Classic Tactical" grip, because I'd rather have a grip that's actually made for the AK. I don't hate it enough to replace it, but I think Ergo should be more straightforward about what they're selling. Also, the adapter makes the grip kind of a pain to install, and it doesn't fit quite perfectly.

I mean, if I wanted an AR grip on my AK, I'd just buy that adapter from Ace and probably a Hogue or something.

I got the green modular grip from Command Arms. It lets you customize it to fit your hand. It's made in Israel, so don't get it if you are short on compliance parts. Great grip!

I have the tapco grips on my two saigas. I had a tapco t6 stock on my SKS but I gave it to my kid and he had me put it back to true motherland stock glory. I am thinking of getting the tapco stock for my 10/22 so practicing with it will translate better to my black guns.

The SAW grip feels good to me too.

Here's a pic of the Ergo New AK grip (AR grip + adapter) on my Vector.

Don't get me wrong, it's a very nice grip, but Ergo should describe it as what it is.

CAA makes an ergo grip as well as an ergo with interchangeable grip panels. You can find them at lapolicegear.com as well as other sites. LA was cheaper than others several months ago. See pic...

Nobody yet answered my question, can you still reach and work all the controls with your hand on the grip with all those larger ones?

I tried a couple of the Ergo's when the first came out and they were a little to big for me to do so. Their "sticky" or "grippy" version just constantly weeped some sort of oil too, and was always messy and more slippery than sticky. The plastic version was OK, but again, to big.

The standard AK grip works fine for me, I usually just add a small piece of skateboard tape to the front of it. You can easily control the gun and sweep the safety off with your hand on the grip, and also reach and drop a mag the same way.

AK103K, I didn't notice your question as I was concentrating on the OP's question. To answer it, yes, I can still reach and operate all controls with the CAA modular grip.

I have small hands, and I can still work the safety on my WASR with the CAA/TDI grip I mention on pg.1.
