What is your favorite "inferior caliber" gun?

Well, to be technical about it, .32 ACP, .380, .32 S&W & .32 S&W Long were common service calibers at some point. I guess by "service calibers" I meant "service calibers currently in widespread use" as opposed to "service calibers once in widespread use but now generally considered underpowered, obsolete, and/or limited to Curio & Relic firearms".

Yeah I think 9x18 is still in service, but it is being phased out, I think .32 ACP is still used in some european and south american countries for police work, not sure though.

My favorite is still 9x18 though due to all the cool, inexpensive commie surplus guns on the market.

hmm, the first Beretta 21 I had in 22 longrifle years and years ago, when they still made smooth working, nicely blued, wood gripped handguns...

I also have a j frame smith in 32 H&R mag that I suppose would be considered not enough gun by most, though energy wise it rivals many 38 special loads

Seecamp LWS-32. I had one back before they became the "in" thing, so I paid retail for it. I was talked into selling it, about the time the demand was just about to skyrocket, and got all of my money back out of it. When the prices stabilized a couple of years ago, I got another. I still usually carry one of my .357 SP101 snubbies as a minimum, but that little Seecamp is really nice. I also have an S&W M631 snubby, in .32 H&R, on layaway. Another rarely-carried miniature pistol is my Colt Mustang. It's not a marvel of engineering like the Seecamp, but it's a sweet-shooting little pistola.

When I set up a home office, I'd like to wear a shoulder holster while working, by default. Now that I have a reloading press, I think I can justify breaking my "fewer calibers is better" rule for something to fill that shoulder holster.

A Cz-82/83 seems like a good gun for that purpose :) Or a Makarov.

.380 Kel-Tec P3AT My back pocket "BATTLE BUDDY". Say what you want about mine... but I always have it with me :D

My favorites are my Sig Trailside (I could just shoot that gun all day) and, of course, my gang of Makarovs--E. German, Bulgarian, Chinese, and 2 Russians (one commericial, one military)

I have a Kel-Tec P32 that I carry everywhere. I'm not sure if that qualifies it as a favorite or not. Its not particularly fun to shoot, but its always with me.

I just got a Beretta Bobcat but I haven't fired it yet so it hasn't made "favorite" status by any means.

I don't really have much to compare it to. I only own one (modern) gun in a caliber smaller than 9X19. I like my little bersa .380 thunder just fine though. Having shot a ppk years ago, I seem to recall that being decent, but I barely remember it. And I don't count anything in .22lr, since your question seems to be in reference to "inferior" defensive calibers.. and I don't include the 22lr in the defensive/service category.

I love shooting my NAA .22LR pocket revolver w/holster grip. I wasn't sure how my hand would fit the funny grip, but it is actually a really good fit for my big hands (probably not for everyone). The .22LR actually makes a nice little pop out of the 1.1" barrel. And when it is folded it is the size of a Leatherman tool or Swiss Army knife.

PS - I picked this gun up last week for $169 at Sportsman's Warehouse in Loveland, CO - haven't seen a better price anywhere else.

I'm really fond of the NAA .22 Mini revolvers, including the Black Widow (larger grip). Fun to shoot and, while not that great at stopping power, would likely prove Effective Enough for defense if you shoot true (at the head). And the smallness factor is definitely a plus!

I think the maks are great. Of the guns I own, my fave other than my .22s is my only one other than .22s, my Grendel P12. I know there were problems with the P10 and some don't like the P12, but mine's been 100 percent with my carry loads. It doesn't like those practice loads, low lead, from Winchester, but it shoots my handloads great. It holds 12 rounds and is light and small enough for most any pocket. I made a little wallet holster for it for a rear jeans pocket and it looks like a wallet in there or I carry it in the front pocket of carpenter's jeans, but I don't carry it too often. Got better, full caliber guns to choose from most of the time. It fills a niche, though, if I need it.

Yeah, I carry my NAA everywhere, that one ranks high, too, because of that, but for self defense, I prefer the .380.

That's easy - I bought a like new nickeled Bersa Thunder .380 used one day on the spur of the moment for about $235.

What a blast to shoot. Fed and fired everything & was accurate & quick on target. Had to trade it off due to low funds while buying a new gun. That Bersa Thunder may have been an "inferior caliber", but it was a great little piece!

I may yet buy another one day.

This one is a lot of fun to shoot, a bit of a collector’s piece since it’s no longer built and it’s an all steel gun unlike the new ones with alloy frames( Bersa Super Thunder 380 ACP, 15+1 capacity)

Walther PP in 32 auto. bought 30 years ago for $200 and to this day am kicking myself that I didn't buy 2. Had several people laugh and say "32 auto||||" my reply "let me put 3 or 4 into your chest and tell me how you feel afterwards" so far no takers
