What is your primary carry pistol...Why?

SIG P229 in .40 S&W
Why?
Because it's 14 years worth of familiar. The only thing with a longer personal history is a S&W 686 but that's just not something I want to try and CCW these days.

Have a few, probably three "primaries", and one "last-ditch"..
I have a Bersa Thunder .380 (7+1) loaded with Remington 88gr (I think) JSPs. I also have an old Grendel P-10 .380 (the one they made that actually functions, though it did take some work!). It holds ten of the same rounds, eleven if you risk a fingertip working in the last, and is a little lighter and easier to conceal than the Bersa, though not as refined.
I sometimes carry my CA Undercover .38, loaded with five of the Remington 125gr JSPs.
The "last-ditch", used for limited-clothing situations here in the steamy south, is my old J-22 (6+0), that sometimes gets dropped in a pocket. Like the Grendel and the CA, I've had it for 20 or so years, and it functions.
Edit: forgot to include "why"..
These are what I have, acquired over many years, and most acquired many years ago. Concealability and affordability played the biggest roles in purchase.. the Charter Arms was a BU/OD weapon while in LE, the Grendel was purchased on a dirt-cheap PO through the agency when it came out as a potential BU/OD, but it took years to get it to function reliability. I had a PPK/S, but let it go during hard times.

a Makarov w/spare magazine when wearing a shirt/jacket. lightly dressed my Beretta .32acp and spare mag. on my M/C usually a Ruger GP 4" .357 and speed loader with some spare ammo and sometimes along w/it Taurus .22 revolver with speed loader and spare ammo due to a 'confrontaion' I had years ago when I carried a Ruger Mk with just one spare mag. sometime I carry both .22LR's w/spare ammo. it won't happen again - at least without me fireing more shots than I did before.
that is a scarey situation - to be outgunned and you with limited ammo.

My primary carry pistol is a PPK because it's super slim, as accurate as a large frame pistol, and a fictional character gave it legendary status.

I carry a full size S&W M&P .40, it carries great now that I have a good holster. It shoots nice points easy and is reliable, thats all I need. I would like a LCP eventually.

I carry a Glock 26 every day, and if I am meeting clients/dressing up I carry a Kel Tec P32 instead. They are both great guns. The Glock is great for a lot of reasons... compact, durable, reliable, accurate, hi-cap, etc. The Kel Tec is the king of concealment. If I am in need of stealth, the Kel Tec P32 is my answer. It has also never failed to fire thus far.

Primary is either a CZ 75D PCR 9x19mm, or an FNP9-M, or sometimes a Glock 27 .40 S$W. Occasionally my first gun, my USP 40 fullsize. All excellent guns. I just got a package today that includes two holsters for my S$W Model 28-2 and 586, so I bet I'll be carrying those from time to time now too.

When choosing your carry weapon and holster, remember this:

In the entire history of gunfighting, there has never been a time when trouble started and one of the shooters wished he was carrying his gun in a less accessible holster.

In the entire history of gunfighting, there has never been a time when one of the shooters wished he had a smaller gun that held fewer rounds of less powerful ammo.

3913 Primary, 640ND Secondary, LCP BUG. Winter the 3913 is exchanged for a 4516-2.

My primary is a 1976 Colt Government Model worked over by John Harrison. It is carried IWB in one of my Sparks holsters. I carry a spare magazine for it on my weak side. The reason I carry the Colt is that I shoot it better and faster than any other gun. I do have a Caspian built to much of the same specs that sees carry when the event is formal. The Colt, though, is my favorite.

If I need a bit more ammo, I add a Harrison-tweaked Baer Stinger in a shoulder holster to the mix. I also use Government mags in the Stinger and carry two more magazines on the off side of the holster. That means I have five full (one in each gun and three spare) magazines with seven rounds each and one in each chamber for a total of 37 rounds. The biggest issue with this carry is I tire easily due to the extra weight, especially in the heat and humidity.

S&W model .327 TRR8 for easy concealement situations.
For more difficult concealment, like when it's practically impossible to hide anything, I carry a NAA .22 Magnum Mini-Revolver in a wallet like holster.

It depends on the time of year and my style of dress.

Either a S&W 442/642, Glock 26, Kimber Ultra Raptor.

I have upgraded my pocket gun to a Smith 642. It is very light and still packs a powerful punch.

I back that up with a 1911. I was carrying a full size, but recently found a Combat Commander that will enter the mix when I have fired enough rounds to be comfortable.

The 1911 is carried in a fanny pack.

Springfield Armory XD9sc......reliable, easy to shoot, easy for me to carry in an IWB holster, cheap to feed and a caliber that's had a lot of R&D in self defense rounds.

Just picked up a S&W 642 though for pocket carry for summer clothing time....of course i bought it just as the warm weather is about to end....should give me 9 months though to get proficient with it

Kahr MK9

Because (a) it's easy to conceal on an "always" basis via the SmartCarry holster, and (b) it's a high-quality, reliable, powerful hand cannon! :)

Primary is a P3AT, because I don't live in Bahgdad or Detroit, and carry other options. I'll be flexible if our local standard of living depreciates, though.

Don't carry YET, but from what I am buying, most likely a Model 36, as it so easy to carry that one does not have to plan around it, unlike a Model 15 or a BHP.

Drgong,

I don't know if you have tried a 36, but I have one and it's not what I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong. It's great to have a .45 in a small package, and also great to have that GLOCK reliability. I find, however, that the space between the bottom of the gun butt and the magazine easily pinches you when you shoot it. Also, unless you're a pretty big person, the GLOCK 36 is bigger than it seems once you start looking to carry it.

I'm now looking at getting a small-frame, lightweight S&W revolver with a laser sight. I still like GLOCKs, though. I have a 21, 26, and 36. The GLOCK 21 is by far my favorite "truck gun".

Just my 2 cents.
