I am a big 45 fan and i am wanting to start carrying a 45 again. Just wanted to know what you guys liked. Notice i said no 1911's and i am not cutting a 1911 down so dont take this as a bash against them. I just cant get comfortable with the whole cocked and locked thing.

Glock 21SF. OWB/generally open carry. I tried a 30SF but had the well known FTRTB/FTF issues so I exchanged it with Glock for the 21SF.

Glock 21 with 13 round magazine in a Blackhawk serpa CQC holster. Carry ammo is speer gold dot 230grain hp.

I have a glock 21 which goes with me on the farm every day and sits beside my bed at night but i think its a little big for CCW. I have thought about the glock 30, I just have something inside of me that loves the 45. I currently carry a glock 26 which has been super reliable never had any problems, and i shoot it good. I just cant get rid of that 45 fever.

Usually a Sig p-245, at times a SW-4516 or HK-USPc.

I'll confess my 1911 has become my primary CCW firearm but before that it was a Springfield XD 45 Compact. The compact still makes an appearance when I'm heading into an area with a greater threat probability (given the larger magazine size). The 1911 conceals better given how slim it is...so it gets carried more often. THey're both my favorite range pistols.

When I stopped carrying a 1911 as a duty gun, I carried a Sig 220 both on and off-duty...it is about the size of a Commander.

If I wanted a DA/SA polymer gun, I'd be looking very hard at either a H&K HK45 or a HK45c (feels like a larger P2000 in the hand)

If I didn't want a gun with a hammer, the best feeling and pointing gun I've tried is the S&W M&P45. I one I shot had the Apex Tactical kit in it and had a great trigger...I also got a chance to try their new trigger kit and it felt very much like a 1911

"What .45 do you shoot other than that 1911???"

"MORE 1911's!"

Seriously though. What else is out there that isn't hopelessly fat? The 1911 may be heavy, but it is thin.
Glock 30, with the weird magazine?
Kahr P45, with the funky DAO trigger? (Great subcompact CCW trigger, but I'd hate to judge it next to more combat oriented pistols)

Anything against .40?

Glock 30SF or Ruger KP-90. Either depending on season and mood; both 100% reliable through > 5,000 rounds each.

When the weather cools off a bit more, I'll be sporting my G21 pretty much daily. If I'm wearing my coat while out and about, I'll use my Blackhawk paddle holster. If bulk is a bit of an issue, I have a flatter leather holster I made for it.

I simply can't IWB a Glock comfortably.

I used to carry a glock 36 and loved it. I now carry a springfield XD .45 compact 4" and it rides real nice too. Can't go wrong with either of those two. They both shoot real nice and accurate.

Kahr CW45 light, thin accurate and reliable. I actually think that Kahrs have great triggers.

Sometimes an HK P9s .45
...when it isn't some variety of 1911, that is.

I've been messing around some with the Glock 36. So far, I like it.

Would'nt carry it 'cocked and un-locked' IWB. That kinda limits its utility value for me. My shirts are the size of small tents these days, so I can get by with an un-tucked shirt and a high ride OWB for the 36.

The 36 mags clip/smear a little sliver of lead off the paper cutter edge on the H&G 68. Easily washed out in the sink and hot water though.

Kinda stout recoil up movement with 7.0 Unique and the 200 grain H&G 68s.

GI .30 Carbine canvas mag carriers hold two factory mags securely, discretely, and comfortably.

The 36 isn't perfect, but isn't awful either.

I'd rathdr have a Commander or the Tuner Tweaked OM though.

I've been carrying an XD45c when I'm not packing my officer's size 1911 or PPS.

Anything is easy to carry in a SuperTuck hanging from a BeltMan belt, even the XD and 31 rounds total.

Some variation of the 1911 is my preference but I'm carrying a Glock 30 to get used to it again. Used to have one and just found a used one for about $400 so I'm trying it again. They are ugly and have no soul but they most always work and you can't really hurt one.

I feel soooo deprived,..(not really),..I occasionally carry and frequently shoot a Firestom Mini-Thunder in .45 ACP,..I like the ergos;' it shoots well for me , handles well,..and has never ever had a fail to fire, fail to feed or fail to eject that wasn't ammo related. It may not be the prettiest or fanciest out there,..but I like it,..it works,..and that is all that really matters.
