What kinda 45 are you carrying (besides 1911)

Aside from my several 1911's, I have a Ruger KP90DC .45, a couple of S&W 3rd gen .45's and a M&P 45 (FS w/thumb safeties).

The Ruger doesn't see much more than occasional range use anymore because the 4513TSW & CS 45 are lighter & smaller, and the M&P 45 sees more use than the rest of my 1911's & 3rd gen's, combined. ;)

I've tried a lot of other .45's over the years, but those are the ones that have made me want to spend my own money on them.

Aside from yet another 1911 (SW1911 Enhanced) at some point, I'm thinking about picking up a M&P 45c in a little while. I just have to decide whether I want it to be in standard configuration (like my 40c) or with thumb safeties.

I primarily carry my Commander or Government but carry my G30 from time to time. Back before I put some extra weight on, I carriedmy G30 IWB but now it just is not comfortable so now I carry it OWB
which requires an extra layer of concealment to hide.

I have four 1911's in 45, but also have four non-1911 45's. They are a German SIG P220, HK45C, S&W 457S, and S&W CS45. All run great and are quite accurate. The P220 is a bit large for me to carry comfortably, but the other are carried regularly.

I am a big 45 fan and i am wanting to start carrying a 45 again. Just wanted to know what you guys liked. Notice i said no 1911's and i am not cutting a 1911 down so dont take this as a bash against them. I just cant get comfortable with the whole cocked and locked thing.
You could always go with a HK USP45 v1 (I did).

It can be carried either as a conventional trigger operated DA/SA or if/when you want to go to a straight SA mode it can be carried in condition 1.

This, or a my standard P220, or my P220 Carry.

I have three .45acp pistols. My P220 is my favorite winter carry gun. I have a Beretta mini cougar in .45acp that I love to carry in my milt sparks holster in the summer. I just picked up a Taurus AL framed 1911 this year that I like, but have not carried it much. I have shot a M&P .45 at one of the IDPA matches. It was really nice. I will have one of those eventually.

I depend on both my Colt New Agent and Kahr P45. Both are reliable, accurate and "comforting".

Another Glock 30 here. There are grip adapters for full size 21 mags which fill my hand fine. Then the option of the short ones for CCW.
Fits a lot better than my 36 which won't be in the safe long. It just is not as easy to hit with as the 30 for me.
Milt Sparks VMII works just fine too. IWB

I have a 36, BULL, and I agree with you completely.

Shot that 30 before I decided on the 36 and it was phenomenally accurate--especially for it's size.

The 36 isn't 'quite' as quick and easy to be accurate with, but with practice, it comes dang close. The lighter, thinner slide makes for some noticeable extra muzzle rise for sure.

I suppose I decided, for a dedicated CCW, that I could live with the difference in fast, accurate follow-up shots and settle for the lighter, thinner more comfortable to carry, to me, 36.

And, for what it's worth, I also figured most self defense situations would be close enough for the difference to be a wash.

But, for the record, that 30 is one hell of a pistol. Probably one of 'The' most accurate of its kind (polymer with similar weight and dimensions).

So, this would be the place to ask. I like the size of the G36, but would prefer a XD. I would prefer the redundant safeties of the XD over Glock, call me paranoid if ya want. Wondering if there's a compact XD45 the size of a G36 single stack? I really don't keep current on XDs and Glocks, so figure you guys would know.

No, MC, to my knowledge there is not.

I, personally, find the slide on the Glocks to be much better for CC due to the sleek, streamlined simplicity of the slide in comparison. I did own an XD9sc and now own an XDm .45 so nothing against XDs.

The only other thing similar to the 36 in caliber and dimensions is the Kahr .45, I believe--not sure exactly what the model is though.

Far as I know, there aren't any XD .45s that even come close to the G36 in dimensions, but if I'm wrong, I'm counting on others to help me pass on accurate information. As far as the redundant safeties go, to each his own. I just don't think you'll find anything like the G36 besides a compact 1911.

Hope this answers your question.

XD 45 compact with (1) 10 round mag and (1) 13 round mag, 4" barrel and weighs 29oz with 10 round mag.

glock 36 with 3.78" barrel with 6 round magazines, and almost 10oz lighter. "Glock 36 measures only 28.5mm/1.13 in. in width"

When I handled the xd compact I thought the slide was a bit thinner than the glock 36. I forgot what the dude behind the counter told me but it looked significant. The width of the slide is a big deal when carrying inside the waistband. it seems to get thinner from bottom up.

Thanks. There's a thread running on Glock vs XD and didn't see any mention there. I did follow a link to the Springfield site and looked around and didn't see anything there. they have a compact, but it's not a .45. I have a 9x19 subcompact I like, don't want another 9. Yeah, that XD is nearly as heavy as my Ruger P90, kinda backin' on that one.

My SIL's Taurus PT145 is pretty impressive, reliable, accurate, and very light. It's a double stack. Taurus has a single stack .45, I think. I'm into the Taurus revolvers, but don't own nor mess with the autos, much. One thing I don't like about HIS PT145 is I'd rather have a DA trigger. His has a SA trigger, safety, and it's striker fired with second shot capability. I don't wanna carry a SA gun condition one, wanna keep it DA like my revolvers so I don't have problems with cross training.

Ah, it's not a burning desire anyway unless and until Texas ever passes open carry where I can belt carry concealed and don't have to worry about "flashing". It's T shirt weather down here aside from the occasional "cold" front pretty much 12 months a year. I mostly pocket carry. I don't like IWB, so when I do belt carry, it's OWB for comfort.
