What Sold You On The XD

Don't own one, but have shot both in .45ACP. To me, Glocks' grip angles just aren't right, and their trigger is awful to me. The XD felt weird until I shot it--then I fell in love with it; the trigger was crisp and surprisingly good for a plastic pistol, IMO. Plus, I almost could not miss a bulls eye at 15 yards with that thing, and was less accurate on a similarly sized target with the Glock. It just felt right. Some form of XD is on my list of "to buy" later on in life; I'd sell a Glock if it was given to me. YMMV.

I wanted tupperware

and had never owned one. Looked and looked - wanted to go Glock, but when I saw the XD 45 Compact, I really liked the design. Liked the grip safety, cocking indicator, and it really was two-in-one - a Compact the size of the G19, with 10+1 in 45, and a 'service size' 13+1. I aslo like the looks, and the natural grip feel.

XD grip angle is base don the 1911, which is the same as 90% of the rest of the autopistols on the planet

Glock grip angle is more like a Luger. if you haven't shot Glocks, it will take some transition time.

$275 NIB is what sold me. For that price I thought that even a so-so gun was a good value. Turned out that the gun was great. I like the hs2000.

good price
grip safety
no active safeties
comfortable grip angle
reliable
durable finish
full chamber support
i shoot it well

Warranty and good service rep from SA (classic Buy the Seller situation)
Reliability
Fit in my hand well.

I own four of the XDs and they have all run well. Nothing wrong with Glocks, the one I shot was accurate and well balanced. Problem for me is the grip angle and the blockier feel of that grip when compared to the XD.

I also like the idea of having another, unobtrusive safety on the grip. The other thing I really appreciate is the type of magazine used. Slick, easy to handle and clean.

In the end, go with what feels good to you, but you could do a whole lot worse than an XD for the same money.

I don't own an XD yet, but one of my fraternity brothers has an XD45 that I really like to shoot. The grip did not seem huge to me at all, and I really liked the shape and angle. I had thought to save up and purchase a G21 but now I want the XD in .45 and the G29. Sigh.... so many guns, so little time... (and money right now too)...

What really sold me on my first XD rather than a Glock was grip angle. No Glock basher here, the XD grip angle is just more natural for me.

Since then I've been able to compare XDs and Glocks of similar models side by side and prefer the XD hands down. My boss is a Glock guy and we've had a few range trips together, he still prefers the Glocks, though he's owned a couple of XDs, and I still prefer the XD. For me it is a more natural shooter.

Other reasons - reliability, lots of holsters and accessories available, carries well easy to conceal, and most of what has already been mentioned by others.

I have 4 XDs, the first three were 40s, the latest being the 45 compact.

well, I just recently bought my first handgun. I have not had a lot of experience shooting pistols but wanted something simple and comfortable out the gate. I did not have real preferences and did most of the research either on the web or talking to gun buddies. The XD 40 felt right in my hand and was something my wife could handle so I went with that. The price was good and the added safety was there-for me that was important.

Don't know if this is a help or not but a XD was tied for second on my list of 9mm Auto to buy. Sig 226 won out but the XD was a heck of a shooter at a great price!

Its also the only striker fired auto that really impressed me, great ergonomics, the sights were right there, even down to the little things like that silly little bump - round in the chamber indicator.

I thought I would like a M&P 9 for the same reasons I liked the XD, but the M&P mag release and I were not getting along, once releasing the mag onto my foot and then bouncing downrange.

In a SIG-less world its XD all the way for me.

My $0.02
RFB

The ergonomic grip sold me on the XD. I owned a 9 and a 45. My inability to get as good of groups with either XD compared to Glocks or 1911s caused me to sell both XDs. I put enough rounds downrange. Just never could warm up to them.
