What TWO calibers would you choose if you could only have two?

The easy one is .300 Win mag. But what to add?? That one takes care of everything from rabbits to bear, well something in a short action (for weight) short shell (less powder needed) so .243
That's todays answer!

I suppose if I could only choose two Rifle calibers

I would choose the 223 for vermin, both the two legged kind and the four legged kind. I would choose the 308 for long range and bigger game.

If I were limited to only two rifles in those calibers it would be an accurate Ar-15 inn 223 for both of the above duties. The 308 would have to be a heavy barreled savage in 308. Probably one of their police models.

Along with my Glock 40 and my Remmington 870 I doubt their is much I would be wanting for. Don't need a 22 for anything despite ammo being light.

I'd choose a rifle in 223 Rem and 270 Win. for the kind of shooting I do. I'd probably buy another rifle for elk, moose, or dangerous bear hunting.

I am with most everyone else, since the the 22 lr is a given, MY CZ 452 trainer will accompany a 16" lightweight AR carbine and my cz 550 fs 30-06.

I'm assuming we're talkin' rifles here. I have a few shotguns and you can't shoot doves, ducks, and geese with a rifle....not legally, anyway.I ain't givin' up wing shooting.

Hey MTM man is gonna shoot birds on the wing with a .22!! :p

.22 Hornet and 30-06

That's not a half bad lil plan - neither is .22 hornet / .218 Bee, and .280 Rem.

223 (5.56X45) and 300 WSM. Both fit in a wide variety of actions and rifle types, both have a wide variety of bullets, both shoot pretty darn flat, can be used in AR platforms (ar15 and ar10, respectively), can be used in target applications from 100 to 1000 yards, and can be found in almost any local Wally world in a pinch. (Yes, I have seen both recently in Walmart from Florida all the way to Washington state). With the exception of the big bears and the elephants, which most of us will not be culling on a routine basis, there is little else that you could not do with these two.

5.56/.223 and 7.62/.308

Can do just about anything I need except hunting big bears and Africa stuff.

Plus in a SHTF scenario, it is stockpiled all over America.

Cause I am just that good!

No actually, I've never not been able to get within range of a landed bird, esp because in these parts shooting birds for sustenance means grouse or turkey, and either can be found in abundance on the ground. My 10/22 is adequate for both.

As well as rabbits and, in a pinch, squirrels. Don't like them--too much effort for not a lot of meat.
