When I was in college, I worked for a master gunsmith who specialized in 1911s. One of my duties was to test all repairs and customs. The week of graduation, he sent me to the range with several repairs and a 1911 he'd built from parts - blued frame, brushed nickel Series 70 slide, with S&W target sights milled in. When I got back, I reported that everything was great except the 1911, which had feeding issues. He spent an hour redoing the ramp and sent me back to the range. It worked great, so back to the shop where I reported that to him. His reply was "Good! Go do the paperwork, and Happy Graduation!".
THAT was a surprise - he'd squeeze a penny until Lincoln passed out...
