What was your best purchase in 2007?

price: over 1 grand, which i don't even care, it is what i wanted and i had the money!

Well, my best purchase came from fellow THR member Frandy.

A few years ago I traded off a Sig P230 for an evil black pistol. I bought the little P230 for about $300 and after some cleaning and polishing, sold it back to the same store for about $375.

But I soon found that I missed it badly and realized I had made my first gun mistake - selling off a gun that I thoroughly enjoyed carrying and shooting.

So when Frandy posted one of his beauties up for sale, I begged him to ship it to me, even though it was a FTF only sell.

He did. And I've been tickled pink since:





It might not have been a screaming deal like TNT's (what is?), but I was happy with the sell and I think Frandy was too. Can't beat that.

In addition, I've taken great advantage of Smith and Wesson's charity as well. In 2007 I purchased 3 M&Ps and received, in total, 6 free magazines, two nice free range bags, and a $50 rebate.

Best deal, a co-workers brother passed away and while clearing his home out, found an L1A1 Sporter Cal. 308. The receiver made by Imbel in Brazil. Gun was in a zipper case that had obviously gotten wet at some time or another and a what appeared to be heavy rusting on the receiver. To make a long story short, I paid $225. Cleaned it up and what do you know it shoots like a new gun. Sorry forgot where I was, best auto-loader deal a NOS in box Beretta 92FS with 3) 15 rd L/E Gov't marked mags for $425 OTD.

My best of 07 was the CZ-75 PO1 which I picked up at TG. $489.00 out the door at Sportsmans Warehouse no tax sale. Just a hell of a buy and easily the equal of my 225 or 228. In all honesty I'd never even heard of one until the clerk pulled it off the peg, and I'm in position to pretty much buy whatever I want these day's. I'd put it up against any other european pistol currently in production and there's a lot of really good 9mm pistol's out there.

I didn't purchase any handguns on 07, but I did grab an 870 I found on this forum. I'm pretty damn happy with it, though I can't say the same for the ducks and pheasants it's taken.

I visit quite a few gun shows, some of my keepers, Trophy II from Mitchell Arms, it's more accurate than I, $175, Do you know your AK's? pre-ban Poly-tech, $500, the N-frame 29-2 came with the case $500, the nickel version was $400, both are a strong 95%, The last purchase of "07" was this monster AMT Automag .50AE, box, 2 mags and 35rnds. $500

Best purchase of 2007? HMMMMM....

Probably my Romy Kalashnikov in 7.62. I've had a lot of fun at the range with that one.

Or possibly the Romanian in 5.45.

But it could be the HK P200SK. It's my first 9mm since my very first pistol (which I sold), so ammo is cheap. And it's a good carry gun.

Or maybe the Ruger P90DC. It's a tack driver and handles recoil very well.

But perhaps it is the Taurus 605. It's my first .357 magnum and I really get a kick out of it.

Nah, forget those. My favorite is probably the Sig P232 I picked up a few months ago. Great carry gun. Disappears when carried and is a natural shooter.

Mine was a SIG P229 ST elite in .40

I'd wanted a stainless framed sig for a while, and didn't mine the "rail" that some hate because its my HD gun next to the 870, so I won't mind a light/laser combo on it.

What made it the best purchase, though, was that I ordered a Bar Sto 9mm conversion barrel and had it check for a proper fit by the dealer that sold the gun (Jerry @ Ordnance Outsellers). The 9mm barrel is as accurate as the .40 factory, but the recoil of the 9mm in the stainless frame really makes for more enjoyment of the short reset trigger. Feeds my 228 mags flawlessly, the 13, 15, 17, and 20 rounders.

I've put hogue rubber panels on her now, but this was her new in 2007:
