Today, it would be S&W revolvers, preferably older ones, in .22LR, .38 Spl. or .357 Mag. I can't tell you which ones; I'm not good at predicting which cool revolvers will appear for sale on any given day.
Walther P88, full sized, with at least two mags and the case and original manual and test target and the like. NIB would be even better. That would be $1,100 well spent and worth every penny.
If someone gave me $1100 and told me I must buy a gun strictly for the "fun" category, I'd look real hard for a 6" nickel Colt Diamondback, or a 7.5" nickeled SAA in .44 Special or .45 Colt
