What's a Good "I Don't Need Another Gun" Gun?

large caliber revolver, 44 454 or whatever tickles your fancy, a compact revolver for pocket carry, a 22 pistol, a large caliber rifle, (06 or 308) and maybe a 20 gauge or a sweet 16.

i wouldnt over look some comblock stuff. consider an sks, kalishnakov or the like.

The biggest hole appears to be in rifles, no medium or large bores listed. If you want to go inexpensive the Yugo SKS makes a fine shooter, moving up, FN49, Browning BAR (sporter model not the original) in .270 or 30-06, Benelli R1, or an M1 for semi-autos. Or look at bolt actions from Savage, Howa, Weatherby Vanguard, heck just about anything in .270 to '06.

I second the 22 LR handgun and a 308 rifle, for caliber completeness.

Definitely a .22 handgun, (Ruger, Browning, whatever feels good) and an M1 Garand. That should cover most of the necessities.

Also an SKS, because they're fun and a great value.

Can't argue with the guys recommending a .308, you just need one. I don't know why, but you do. ;) I did. :D

Yep, you're also missing some milsurps. Mausers and Mosins and Springfields, oh my!

Ooo, Oooo....don't forget to grab a CZ52. Great fun handgun at very small price.

And...and...etc.

You Need...

Some things that have been pointed out.
A large caliber revolver
a .30 caliber bolt action. I prefer .308, "06 or .303 Brit will do as long as your choice has punch and accuracy.
a .22 handgun. Also consider a conversion for your .223
you might want to consider a muzzle loader for fun, too.

Shotpistol (Serbu?)
Carbon-15
Bushmaster
Calico 100-round .22 'pistol'
Rock Island 1911, for those not wanting to break the bank
Kel-Tec handgun

Yes, I have a taste for the odd and baroque, as well as the inexpensive. ^_^

Lessee,

Mouse gun--check
Wondernine--check
1911--check
.357 revolver--check

.22 handgun--MISSING! REQUIRED!

The biggest hole appears to be in rifles, no medium or large bores listed.

Yup. A .22 rifle and a .223 EBR are good starters, but what if you need to kill a deer or an elk someday? You need a .308, whether its a Main Battle Rifle or a deer gun.

Then what if you live in Colorado Springs, and escaped bison are terrorizing your neighborhood? A .45-70 levergun is recommended.

Shotgun--check, but only one. If you're going to hunt upland birds (and everyone should do that) you'll need a nice double with twin triggers. The CZ Mallard is, I believe, the only O/U with twin triggers for under $1k. Its on my "next to get" list.

Pretty sure that a .308 Tikka T3 Hunter with a 6x42 Kahles Scope and a 30-30 Winchester 94 Trails End Hunter will happen. I'll also need a .357 or .44 Mag SA revolver or a DA .44 Mag. Maybe a Kahr P9, maybe not.

A s/a 44 mag and definately an sks, great fun. At least an inexpensive mosin nagent definately worth it.

Something makes me like this:
How's .45 Colt compare with .44 Mag, in general?

A Glock will come around sooner or later, it'll creep up on you, and you'll get the itch even if you dunno how it came about. Only way to scratch that itch is to buy one and see what its all about. Resistance is futile!
+1. My itch came with the death of the AWB, and the availabilty of of 33 round mags for less than what a 17 rounder cost in the dark ages. It also makes a good truck gun, although I dont leave it in there 24/7.

I had one before just to shut the mouths of the "if you havent owned one you cant talk bad it" crowd, well, that and I got a good deal on it.

Thar ain't no front stuffer on that list..

You really need another addiction..

A Lyman 54 caliber rifle would start you down another exciting path!! :D

A perfect I dont need another gun gun is one of the big bore's. Desert Eagle .50 AE , S&W .500, S&W .460, .50 GI to name a few.

My last gun that fit the don't need another gun catagory was a CX4 Storm.

You need a Magnum, and you need another rifle, so how about a lever action in 44mag? Also the tried and true 30-06, how about in a pumpgun 760/7600?
