What's the best buy in handguns today?

Yea, da CZ-82 is the best used deal around. Think $650 gun for $200.

Revovlers - Ruger anything for value. Just want one that works: Taurus. But still the classic S&W attracts me, sweet triggers.

Autos: S&W M&P. Best value for dollar spent.

Police trade ins. S&W .357 revolvers, or Beretta 9mm or .40s that have been traded in as department get Glocks instead. They may have some holster wear, but have generally not been fired that much. The last batch of Berettas I saw at a gun show had mostly been fitted with tritium night sights, too.

I agree on used S&W cop revolvers--without keyholes. Very sound weapons, though a lot of them are sorta beat up looking.
I agree too. I bought a model 10 S&W cop shop trade-in about 20 years ago for $150 if I remember right, and although it had some minor blue wear from holster carry it was almost like new internally. It's more accurate than I can shoot with 74 year old eyes, although I have gotten plenty of 5 shot groups at 25 yds from a bench rest. I firmly believe it could do even better in the steadier hands and sharper eyes of a younger shooter, but whoever he is he will have to wait until my widow puts it up for sale someday along with all my other guns. That is, unless Sheik Barak Hussein Obowow's jackbooted thugs gets them first.

I meant to say "plenty of under 2" groups" in my previous post. It aint just my eyes that are getting old.

IMHO, you can't beat the Ruger SR9c, LC9, and LCP for value and reliability. $275-425.00. I shoot the LC9 & SR9c weekly and have hundreds of rounds through both without a single failure, I shoot the LCP just often enough to make sure that it is mechanically sound and to give me a reason to clean and inspect it. If you don't at least look at the Rugers you're doing yourselves an injustice.

Glock 21. Powerful, common, respected caliber. Durable design, user friendly, accurate, reliable. For the money (the last two, used like new, I have found for under $425 each), I consider it a best buy. Glock also has a great service department.

The best buy would be a combination of a low price, and an excellent shooter.

I am surprised that nobody has mentioned the Bersa line of handguns. I have never owned one, but I have read countless positive reviews and posts. It seems that a lot of the owners consider the Bersas a bargain.

I think for a brand new gun S&W 642 are a great deal for $360 shipped. If you wanna go used I agree with the people saying CZ82 hard to beat a good gun for $200. I dont want to start a war but I personally could never trust my life to a taurus, for my first gun I almost got one before I decided on a revolver and Im glad I did. My brother in laws taurus 24/7 in .40 drops the clip probably about once every 15 shots. Literally went target shooting with him a couple of times and you pull the trigger and the mag hits the floor repeatedly. Im sure theres a bunch of great taurus out there but I cant bring myself to buy one anymore

Can't beat an m&p.

Smith & wesson outglocked glock.

They live up to the glock motto better than they do

*swyped from the evo so excuse any typos*

Surplus and police trade ins aside. I would go with a CZ 75B. I haven't been able to find a better mid priced handgun. The Baby Eagle is really nice for the price also and might be a better range toy vs the CZ.

RIA is really close second.

The best deal really is the CZ-82. I recently saw one in the store for $265 with an extra mag, holster, and mag pouch. You can get 500 rounds of range ammo for about $100 shipped. Plus CZ-USA will still service them because they are similar to the current CZ-83.

I also have a soft spot for the CZ P-07 Duty. It is a great gun that can be had for $436 with transfer. It has a DA/SA trigger system. It has the Omega trigger system so you can switch between decocker and manual safety. The gun is balls on accurate, it comes with two 16 round mags, they include a bore brush and cleaning rod, and it requires no break in. Mine has fired everything from 115gr plinking ammo to 147gr flat tip without a hitch. I have loaded mixed mags and the gun still handles fine.

That gun is quickly replacing my other guns as my favorite. Even though my Taurus 85b3 has seen me through two close calls it is on the shelf. I have been carrying my P-07 every where. If I can take it legally, I do.

$436 and you get a gun that has passed the Czech national police torture tests. It has passed muster to be carried by municipal police in the country. It is also carried by police departments in Spain. Bulgaria, Thailand, and the Phillipines all issue the P-07 as the official side arm of their Ministrys of Interior. Protective and security services in Israel and South Africa also use them.

Read the article from the 2011 CZ buyer's guide. The gun is built like a tank. Plus it hadles and holds like a dream. I could go on for days about this gun. I love the gun and would happily pay the $599 being asked for a new G4 Glock. Instead I got it for $483, total. From Jet Guns it can be in your hand for $436. The best deal out there in my opinion.

I think it is hard to beat a Sigma 40ve, have thousands of rounds through mine and never had a problem. I have had several jams in FN Sig and Walther, but the Sigma eats anything i load into it, and it was the cheapest gun I have purchased.

I'd have to agree. I just bought the Sig p250 sub compact at GM for $379 before tax. Tremendous handgun at a great price.

CZ82, nice size, 12 rounds, reliable and uses the makarov round, a little more punch than the 380acp. a steal at $200

I would have to say either the stoeger cougar or the Sig 2022 both can be had for around $400 and both are top quality firearms that would still be a good deal if they were to cost more

CDNN is selling the full-sized Walther P99 QA: $479 is a great price for a new pisstol. The P99C QA is on sale for $449 as well.
