I've been noticing the very distinct love of these CZs on this board, but to be honest I've never even soon one in the flesh.
That being said, I've looked at them online and I kinda like what I see, except for they look really odd. o_O

But here's my big question, what is so special about them?
Is it reliability? Ergonomics? Accuracy? Weight? Concealability? What makes them so grand?

Specifically, what would make their subcompact better than a Glock 26?

Yes

And in my opinion, very good looking guns! Pic of my 75B SA

Try it you will like it!
The CZ's have great ergonomics and are evry reasonably priced for firearms which in my expereince have been totally reliable. I shoot a CZ-75, CZ-40B and CZ-40P. They perform flawlessly with anything for Squib+P loads to full power loads without a hiccup.

Exceptional ergonomics
Exceptional performance
Exceptional reliability

That's about all I can think of. I only have 2 CZ and hope to add a RAMI and a P-01 to my small collection very soon.

I think Wishoot summed it up. Bought my first one in the mid 80s and it is still going without a hitch. Have acquired a few more since and have my eye on others.

The woman next to me at my last handgun class had one. It was the first time I had ever seen one in the flesh, and I will say they are beautiful. I had a hard time keeping my eyes off of it.

What did she show you?:D

 What models were you looking at? The polymer-frame models like the CZ100 and the P-07 do look a little odd, but the 75s, P-01/PCR and metal frame RAMI are nice-looking pistols. I have a PCR myself and am very pleased with it. Here is my review of it when I first got it, in 2007. Since then I've added thin wood grips (and am now thinking of some of those aluminum ones like in JDGray's photo) and rubber covered, slightly extended magazine floorplates to better "tune" it for my preferences.

The title of your thread hits the nail on the head...

HYPE

Would you mind telling us which of the CZ(s) that you dislike and why? Do you still have it? Has it been sold?

I have seen exactly ONE negative comment concerning a CZ pistol anywhere. This individual got a bad one that wouldnt run and kept sending it back.

All I can tell the OP is this: go find one, hold it and see what you think.

I have a Compact D PCR, but it and all the other CZ's I have held felt better than any other pistol, especially Glocks (which I like as well, but the feel is night and day)

Its not Hype.

CZ's are top notch!... I have a couple of CZ-75's and they are amazingly accurate out of the box handguns.

Dependable and Accurate for a good price. Whats not to love?

Well, in my case, I became a CZ aficionado the first time I fired one.

My wife and I decided we needed a pistol for home defence, so we went to a local indoor range to rent a few and see which one we liked best.

I tried Glocks, XD's and Berettas, but when I tried a CZ75, my groups tightened up as if by magic.

And that, as they say, was that.

I figure if the CZ was good enough for Jeff Cooper, who called it the best double-action pistol out there and used it as the basis for the Bren Ten, heck, it's more than good enough for me.

I have the perfect CZ, the CZ 75D, better known as the PCR. It could use a better trigger, and real night sights, but it outshoots many larger pistols, fits my hand like a glove, a tested and reliable service pistol. The PCR is an excellent CCW and is fun to shoot, it can do it all IMO.

They are often overlooked, but they are very fine pistols.

Great ergonomics. They really feel great in the hand.

Don't bother with this guy. He hates everything CZ's. He probably had one stovepipe and decided all CZ's were a POS.

Nushif, what's you r location? I'm sure some one nearby has one they would let you shoot. If your near me you can shoot my 75 compact. I carry it cocked and locked, so it is in SA mode.

CZs are accurate and reliable and have a really low bore axis. Ergonomics are great, but I do think some of them look a little weird. I think it has to do with the relief cut of the frame behind the trigger guard -- it's just one curved line. Looks odd to me.
