What's this CZ hype all about?

Based on the responses to another thread I started here, I decided to go ahead with the purchase of a CZ 75 Compact.

Today I had to go to the Armas y Explosivos office for yet another document in the endless chain of jumping through hoops to legally own/carry here. While waiting, I struck up a conversation with the guy next to me. He was there to up his license to buy another sidearm, a new CZ Shadow. His third CZ.

I won´t have mine for another 30 days yet (getting a CCL here is an unbelievable ordeal) but I can´t wait.

Never shot one, but it felt good ergonomically when I held a CZ 75 in my hand.

Only thing is, I only buy what I carry, and I carry lighter polymer handguns. So I will likely never own a CZ (I know they make polymer frame versions, but I have never seen a sample to handle in my locale).

Hype THIS!

I'm interested in hearing the story of what the LONE dissenter has to say against the CZ. It is one thing to state an opposing position GIVING the reason why, . . . but it is ridiculous to do a "drive by".

I fondled a 97B at a gunshop yesterday and ended up trading in a springfield GI on it today.

The only thing I've found that I didn't like was the magazine brake, which a punch and 5 minutes fixed.

My observations on CZ love, and I don't YET own one, is that they build high quality serviceable handguns that sell at reasonable prices (take that, Sig/HK) and offer a LOT for the money. I'd love to get one, myself. I rather like the 9x18 CZ82, but when I finally go locking for a CZ, it'll probably be in .40 because I don't have a .40 and .40 brass at the range is the most plentiful to pick up, so for that reason alone, I've kinda been wanting a .40. Besides, it's a good defensive caliber, as good as auto pistol defensive calibers get. And, yeah, I have a .45. :neener:

CZ provides incredible quality for the price, with amazing ergonomics. As simple as that. My P-07 duty is my single favorite firearm, and probably the second most favorite I've shot next to a Sig226. But, the P-07 still feels better in my hand.

"getting a CCL here is an unbelievable ordeal"

Yeah, but it's a great country you live in. Not that I've visited all of it. Yet.

I bought a 75-B Military back when they were $349 or less. Mine was $349 and it was still a steal.

Then I bought a BHP. Another great gun.

Orion, the "drive by" poster is nothing but a troll, looking to get a rise out of people. I ignore him now, his opinions are worthless to me.

Costa Rica looks like a beautiful country, only country in the world without a standing army, correct? I think you made a good choice in sidearm, and I wish you a lot of enjoyment from it.

LawofThirds,

Congrats on that 97. I am died-in-the-wool 97 nut. It's not for everyone, but for those that "bond" with it, it's the best handling, shooting, smoothest 45 I have ever owned, and I have, and currently own a lot of 45's. With little work, it can be turned into a superb shooter:

Now, that's the spirit!

WE hear nothing but good about the competition proven/driven
SP-01.

Trigger pull.....

Accuracy.....

Accuracy.....

Had a CZ75BD Police. Was an awesome 9mm, but a little large for me.

Got a CZP07 Duty that had an even better trigger, and was even more accurate. When you are shooting bricks, and then shooting the pieces of the shot up bricks at 25 yards you will be a believer.

The P07 Duty is now on my list of guns I will not sell or trade. About the same size as a G19, but IMO a more enjoyable, and more accurate shooter. I won't say it is a better all around pistol for fear that some Austrian love freak from this forum will show up at more door in the middle of he night... with the intent to wrest the P07 Duty from the grasp of mine heart.... so theyest can shoot it and protect thyselves with my beloved piece. Jealous biznatches..

Haifisch,

I'm assuming you've checked the internet outlets, i.e. Gunbroker, Gunsamerica, & Auction Arms? Sometimes you can find a good deal. I bought a LNIB Sig P-220 for $436.00 + shipping & FFL fee about 18 months ago.

I agree, $700.00 is way to much for an SP-01.

I'm fortunate that I bought mine for $650 WITH the SA [light pull] trigger job, Competition Hammer, removed firing pin block. The light trigger pull is awesome, actually. . . . . and actuating the trigger, the distance it travels is about like a 1911. . . in other words, there's not much pull or take up. 18 rounds in the magazine, and you have a great race gun.

I just got a CZ P-07 Duty and I love it. It is my first CZ but not likely my last. I love the feel of that pistol and the value is fantastic. I agree with Mr. rhoggman, the accuracy is darn good.

Just picked up a P-07 Duty tonight myself to join my stainless 75B and 75 SP-01. I love my CZ's! I talked the guy at the store into a discount because the paint on the rear sight was bogeyed up a little, paid $360 brand spanking new!

A CZ 75 pistol (original or "b" model) is:

Accurate, affordable, easy to aim, positive feeling with recoil, lightweight for a metal frame. It's also the pistol that gave the Beretta 92 a run for it's money when the US Military was selecting a 1911 replacement.

So, I finally got to fondle one, but sadly not shoot it.

To me it kinda feels like my 1911 and my wife's Beretta had a kid. Let me explain.

When I held it, it had the distinct feel of a doublestack service pistol, like a Beretta 92. The slide is a wee bit small, when I want to grab it ... much like the 92 FS.
But the trigger breaks about as smooth and cleanly and easily as a 1911, and on top of it, the hammer can be cocked and the safety engaged.

That being said to me it kinda feels like a Beretta 92 with 1911 functionality. Very, very nifty. I'll have to see about those subcompacts.

Roswell, Kid, if you can do it, down there, get the Kadet Kit for cheap .22lr practice. This is what it looks like on a PCR, same basic look as your Compact.
