I have a Beretta Cheetah. It's a sweet little gun, so I gave it my vote. Mine was manufactured in 1995, bought it used this year. This 11-year-old piece looks almost brand new and never malfunctions.

If you had Glock 27 on your poll, I might have had to debate between the two for a while before voting.

A G29 in a C-tac slide, a little fat but you have to love the 10mm goodness when you need it. If I could find a sub compact that was as reliable and would let me shoot at least 9mm+p I'd buy it. But after reading the Kel-tec, Kahr, Starr and Robaugh (sp?) forums it doesn't seem to exist yet.

I have a Bursa Thunder and it is a sweet little gun but it is not enough smaller to risk a .380ACP vrs. a 10mm when the SHTF. I personally need at least a 9mm+p. New guns from the subcompact guys are due soon, I'll wait and see if they have fixed their issues then...:banghead:

Love the glock and the compact's are excellent. I have a glock 19 and it has been the greatest gun i have ever owned. Accurate, concealable, alot of accessorie's, great trigger, reliable and of course not too expensive.

I voted other because i carry a kahr primarily, sometimes an xd but the kahr is just so light weight, i can carry it all day and forget i even have it on. It is well balanced and it fits me very well! easily concealed in jeans and a t-shirt. my holster is a don hume open top leather paddle. I like it alot, my mag pouch is a blackhawk cqc single stack mag holder. neither has ever let me down.

Other for Me. Compact is relative and I am quite fond of my Star BM. Has the same manual of arms as my 1911's and has never malfunctioned. Think of it as a 7/8 size commander..........Essex

Right now it would be the HK P2000. An absolute dream to shoot. As much as I didn't like polymer pistols, this gun changed my views on it. The last few range trips have all been with the P2000. I will be adding this to my permit very soon. Lightweight, great pointability characteristics, and accurate as hell!

Runner up for 2nd would be the SIG P225. Great single stack pistol. :)

I'm going to say my Glock G30. When I have to tuck my shirt or be more concealed it's my PM9 but that is really more of a sub compact.

I've never shot a 225 but have handled a few and they are by far one of the sweetest pistols I've held.

Of course!
Just look at how much bigger a 40cal bullet is compared to a 9mm.
Why, you can almost see the difference with the human eye.

Actually, 9mm vs 10mm is pretty apparent. For another example, stand a 9x8mm and 9x19mm case up side-by-side.

Of the choices presented, I voted for the Glock 19/23, as I own a G19 which has given me outstanding service. However, I consider these to be medium-sized guns, not true compacts ... despite what Glock says. ;) Of my definition of true compacts, I would choose the Glock 26/27 and the Kahrs.

fgburner, yes you're right.

The cartriges are much different, but notice that I said "bullet" and was only refering to the the part of the cartrige that makes the hole in whatever your target is. :)

Favorite compact semi-auto

My favorite compact pistol that I conceal carry is the Taurus PT145PRO
.45ACP, next would be the Beretta 9000S.

My CCW is a revolver

Ruger .357 SP101 spurless 2 1/4 inch snubbie. I want the most reliability possible and I can fire from inside my coat pocket if need be. No FTF, or failure this and failure that. If the first one dosen't fire, just pull the trigger again. No "operator" problems like limp wristing in close quarters. Not to mention less maintenance. 5 rounds are more than enough in 99% of CCW scenarios. If I need more than 5 rounds, I shouldn't be there in the first place ( i.e. call the cops).
