I feel privileged to be able to step outside my home and shoot if I feel like it, however I know that not everyone has the ability to do so. So where do you most often shoot? Do you have to go to a range or do you have property?

Nick

I have my own range; I also live directly behind the PD range, so if I really had to in a pinch, I could get permission to use their facility.

I belong to five clubs so finding a place to shoot is much easier. My brother has a nice chunk of land upstate where I can shoot as well!

When I just want to shoot handguns indoors, range.

When I want to shoot rifles and handguns outdoors, other range.

When I just want to shoot at stuff, desert area, 'cause dang, we got a lot of desert!

I have my own range, plus access to 2 other ranges. Sometimes I can get out during lunch to run a few mags thru, just to break the tension:evil:

I also have 5 acres in town, and have been known to cap off a few, ( just .22), but worry about someone hearing them.:what:

I am fortunate enough to live in a state with lots of BLM land. I do not have to go to a pay range very often. There is a spot in the desert south of town where most people go, about a 30 minute drive. The only problem is the trash pile up that takes place. You would not believe the stuff that people bring out to shoot at. Every now and then, our local gun clubs put together a meet-up to clean the place up. Very cool.

I can shoot in my back yard, even though I have neighbors on three sides(they do the same) I prefer to go to the Wildlife and Fisheries range. It's a bit of a drive and it's only open on weekends. I prefer it for the accomodations thet provide. It's the only public range in my area.

I said "other" because I often shoot out in "the desert", doing some plinking. To me, its a lot more fun than going to the range.

Sometimes I have to go to the range, to evaluate a new load, or, sight in a scope. But to see how well I'm shooting, I use improvised targets at unknown ranges using field positions.

And I wish that the other folks who shoot in the desert would clean up their brass, hulls and trash...

My family has 350 acres in the country that I usually shoot on. It takes me an hour and a half to get there though and I'm about to move another 40 minutes or so away so I'll probably join a range in Waco after I move.

where to shoot

since I live in the bay area in PRK, I don't have any private land or a friend's private land to shoot on. I shoot at Chabot (outdoor) and Target master's in Milpitas (indoor).

I carry all my shooting range keys in a small bag that I keep with my shooting gear. I emptied it just now to snap a picture, since a picture says more than a thousand words...

The vast majority of the time I shoot in the wide open desert: BLM Land. I do belong to a club, but I pretty much only compete there. A couple times a year I go there just to shoot.
I am lucky to have a choice. For me, it takes a lot of the fun out of it when I have to shoot with other people on a range.

Most of my shooting is done in a gravel pit about 4 miles from my house. I used to belong to a shooting club with an indoor range, but I stopped going because the atmosphere was bad. (There seems to be a lot of a**h***s at that club).:cuss:

Just what WhoKnowsWho said.

Indoor range for pistol work during lunch.

Outdoor in the vast Sonora Desert on the weekends or when I have extra time on my hands.

I do all of my shooting out in the desert. Only range easily accesible to me is a paper-target only range, and a no-mag single shot range which i don't like at all. As of right now I have three differant "ranges" in the desert, the nicest being very far out in the desert where we go to play with the fun toys, ge134, m2 and the likes.

My family has 100 acres about an hour away. I've shot there since I was a kid. However, I don't go there in tick season. I can't stand the little blood suckers!

We belong to a Muzzloader club that shoots once a month but we usually just use the backyard range for practice and plinking. On the weekends out here you can hear folks shooting from all directions.:)

There is a state run unsupervised range about 20 minutes south of me. It's a little trashy but I have had no problems. There are always guys there picking up brass so if I left it I wouldn't feel too guilty.

My choices are A) poorly mantained indoor range about 20 minutes from my house. Or B) OK outdoor range with STUPID "load one shoot one" policy on rifles.

My range is a table set up about fifteen feet from my doorstep. If I want a 'covered range' I have to shoot from the front porch (which upsets my hummingbirds) or under the toolshed on the back of the house. I could shoot from the kitchen table I suppose, if I wanted to install a big ventilator fan, but the mrs. wouldn't care for the noise or the flying brass:D
