Wideners Reloading 2/16/15
To: AR-15Nutt

It has been very hard to get powder for the last couple of years. The demand in higher than ever before and there are a ton of new companies that are loading ammunition and that is where most of the powder is going.

i am guessing that will be the reply from all the powder vendors who sell powder for reloading the 5.56mm NATO/.223 Rem.

 ............................................ :cuss:

actually, all the gun stores around me have powder in stock. it's great for the guys who like to buy 1 lb cans every few months, but for guys like me who want to 48 lb of the same lot once/year, it stinks.

still, if you're looking for 556/223, go to hi-techammo. they have at least 2 pull down or mil surplus powders in 8lb kegs for $144 last i checked

I asked the guy at my local reload shop and he said it's going to the ammo manufactures and that there are only 3 powder companies in the US. Doesn't explain why no foreign pistol powder seems not to be imported.

What are you looking for? Recobs has varget. Just keep an eye out for a few days and you are bound to find what you want. Rifle powders have been pretty available these past 6-8 months and pistol powder has really eased up this past month.

Rifle powder has been around the whole time where I live as has powders that would be decent in a variety of handgun loadings. Shotgun powders however have been absent, especially in 8# jugs that we target shooters prefer to buy.
