The CCI Stinger 1,645 fps or the Aguila 1,750 fps? Is one cleaner than the other?

I find that the CCI is cleaner. Aguila makes very good rimfire ammo, but I prefer CCI. I particularly like the CCI 'standard' sub-sonic .22 for handgun target shooting and the Stinger for hunting.

What about the Stinger HP and the Stinger segmented HP?
I think the Aguila is a dirtier round.

All rimfire ammo is dirty. I don't think quality is in question between these two. Just try them both and see which shoots the best.

The buck mark is doing well on the Aguila and has done well with the Stingers too when I sighted those in.
The 617 Smith has problems with both in that it jams up cyclinder and trigger won't move after awhile.

Plus the Aguila has a distinctly odd smell to it when fired. I've heard it's something to do with the priming compound? :scrutiny: The bith work pretty good though, depends on ypur gun.

This is true it does smell funny and has a little more kick n spark.
You should have seen the 617 after I was done black residue all in the forcing cone area above the barrel.

Yeah the Aguila uses the Remington Ely priming compound and does have a smell and can be dirtier, but my mp15-22 loves the Aguila. The CCI shoots well, but the Aguila tends to be more accurate. Although ever gun has its preference.

Both are good brands but I prefer the agula since it chambers in all my firearms whereas the stinger is juuuussssssst a tad longer and won't chamber in some of my match barrels.

My Browining buckmark likes the Aguila and is sighting fine with this ammo but before I had it sighted in with the Stinger ammo.

Doesn't matter....

which is the better quality. The important thing is which ammo shoots more accurately in your gun......chris3

Theres no bonus to shooting HV ammo out of a pistol. Buy standard volucity ammo and aguilla does have a hp ammo if thats need but regularsolid tiped ammo kills critters just fine with head shots and doesn't damage as much meat if shooting at the body. never payed attention to powder ordor, never bother me, just what shoots best . Pistol match loads would more than likely be the fastest in a pistol and darn sure the most accurate.

Stinger cases are slightly longer and don't work in some tighter chambered guns.
I get puzzled by all the questions about which is "cleaner" regarding everything from rimfires to shotshells. All cartridges leave some residue from the powder burning. I have guns that I've shot thousands of rounds using the very dirty "Unique" and the dirty "Red Dot" and other "dirty" powders.
I clean regularly but not overly often and most, if not all my guns are as accurate or more so than the day I got them. Some I've resurrected from destruction after others had them by lapping and polishing the bores.
Nothing beats a shot smoothed choke in a shotgun. My TB 870 has over a third of a million rounds through it and the bore is like glass....and still smokes targets when I'm on.
Shoot what shoots best and clean when you need to and don't obsess about a little residue in the bore.

Not necessarily true. They DO shoot faster and flatter. For example, Federal Spitfire runs 200fps faster than Remington GB hollowpoints out of a 5½" Single Six.

I prefer CCI Velocitors. But in general with this type of ammo, I would use which ever one shoots best in your firearm.

Aguila also sells a solid tip bullet also rated at 1,750. Costs a little less than hollow point.
