This is not a "which gun should I get for my wife" thread - we all know there's only one right answer to that question.

I'd like to know which handgun your wife/girlfriend shoots. I know we have a number of ladies that post on this board, I invite you to participate as well.

Feel free to list multiple firearms, but specify what role they serve - is the gun a concealed carry piece? A plinker? A bedside gun?

And as usual, don't be afraid to post pics :)

My wife carries different guns, depending on where she's going and what she'll be doing. For everyday carry, she normally has her Springfield XD-SC, in 9x19, with her. Sometimes she carries a Colt Detective Special, and other times carries a Pietta Stallion, in .38 Special.

For SASS matches, she shoots a pair of EMF Great Western II's, in 38 Special. She has also recently fallen in love with the new to us Ruger Mk. II, stainless bull barrel .22 LR pistol.

Those are her regular guns and the ones that belong to her, with the exception of the Mk. II.

Hope this helps.

Fred

My wife shoots any and all handguns she can get her hands on. She has a Colt Defender, 2 Sig P220s, a Taurus PT145, Ruger SP101 (.357), Kahr CW9, Taurus PT111, Springfield XD-9, Kel-Tec P3AT, etc, etc... not to mention the long guns that she has. And, she's still whining because she hasn't gotten a Baby Eagle yet!

She loves handguns, and loves to shoot...She carries the Kahr CW9. She like the sleakness and fit in her hand. For a bedside gun she keeps a Mossberg 12 gauge with collapsable stock and pistol grip, as well as her Taurus PT145. She keeps her SP101 .357 magnum by her recliner. And a hidden goodie in the kitchen. I think I've got a pretty good woman!!! :)

6"Ruger GP100 Stainless .38/.357, Remington 513T .22, Swedish M96 Mauser 6.5 x 55 reduced load(calls the ballistic tips her "lady fingers". So far. . .

Ruger MKII, Several different 1911's, Sig 226. Smith models, 10, 15, 27, 642.

Has shot in the past, Ruger .44 Mag, Glock, 17, 19, 21, and stuff I cannot remember at this time.

And she is 5'2" and 120.

Mine now carries a S&W model 638 38sp snubbie.

She first tried a P3AT, didn't like it.
Then a Bersa 380, she liked it but a little too big to only be a 380 and I really don't think having to fool with a safety if the chips were down was a good idea.
Next up was a 9mm Walther PPS, she thought it was too big and heavy, she used it to qualify for her CWP though.

MrsBFD packs a Springfield XD9sc, and occasionally the NAA mini in .22mag when she can;t be bothered to deal with a purse. (she just won't adjust wardrobe for on-body carry yet, and yes, she and I know all of the advantages of on-body compared to the disadvantages of off-body)
She shoots whatever handguns are on the table, with a particular preference for the XD, a Walther P1, and pretty much anything in .22, although she really excels with the Ruger mkIII 6 & 7/8" target model that was my first gun not too long ago, and now is her favorite target pistol, upgraded/downgraded* with custom parts and a home gunsmith session that was about the limit of what we can do with the tools/skills we have at hand.

I don't know where the "women can't handle a semi-auto" myth came from, she handles just about everything we've tried just fine, with a few adjustments for her smaller hands here and there.

*(sear/trigger/extractor from VQ, hammer bushing from a guy over on RFC to remove the worthless mag interlock, and the LCI pulled to help with smooth ejection ... I did the same to "my" mkIII 5.5" bull barrel as well, so we no longer have to fight over "who gets the good .22")

my wife's gun is a s&w m&p 40. she shoots it well. however, her favorite gun is my smith 686, though she prefers that one w/ 38 specials.

My wife's carry gun is a S&W M342PD. Her bedside gun is a M65LS. Her plinker is a Browning Buckmark. Her .22 target pistol is a Model 41 with a Tasco Pro-Point.

In the vehicle a Rossi stainless snub .357, in the night stand a Glock 22RTF with M3 light, she has a High Standard .22 target pistol but she'll shoot anything even my .44's.

My spouse has shot 9mm, .357s, 38s, and 22s, and 12 gauge. She prefers 22s.

Home Defense - Smith and Wesson Model 15-7 (4" barrel)

Range Plinking - Ruger Black Hawk 50th Anny., Ruger MKII

She is working on her skills with bigger auto loaders. She has a Glock 19 that has the hybrid NY/3lb connector trigger and has been shooting it quite a bit at the range. Her confidence is just not as high with the Glock as the Smith M15 yet but IMO her proficiency is close. She also usually likes put a few mags thru my Les Baer, one of the COLT's or one of my Browning Hi Powers. The recoil of the .45's is still a bit much for her past a few rounds.

I'm not sure.

I was too busy ducking and weaving in a serpentine pattern and hoping her aim was off to notice which one she was using...

S&W fullsize M&P in 9mm, CT laser grips

Nightstand and carry. Have my CPL, not carrying yet, but it will mostly be purse carry, hence my choosing thumb safety model. I know the pros and cons of off-body carry....but need to be realistic.

I'm a newbie and I've only tried a few but
Loved the Ruger 22/45 for target/plinking and the CZ P01 9mm but hated the S&W MPc 9mm

whatever i bring to the range with me. she likes my sig 226 (chambered in 9mm) the best.

i carry and sleep with a .357 on the nightstand, but she doesn't. someday i'll get her to get a cwp and carry.

Walther PPS in a dedicated Galco handbag, loaded with 8+1 rds of 124 gr +P Golden Saber.

With two extra mags.

My wife has taken a liking to my recently acquired XD9 compact for HD and carry. Her favorite is a Ruger Blackhawk in 45 LC. She's very capable with either.

The standout feature for her on the XD9 is the "cocked" and "loaded" indicators. She heard a bump in the night a week ago (I was out of town) and could feel that it was loaded; she finds that reassuring.
