H&R M12 owner here. That thing is spooky accurate...even with Federal plinker ammo.

what nbkky71 said... with the viani scope mount and a bushnell 4200 it's a total tackdriver... I shot a wasp at 50 yards that landed on my target.

I have a very nice Remington model 41 Target Master, still one of my favorites to pull out of the safe and plink with.

Dad gave me a Remington 33 in 1960 he had bought in the 30's and we own at least a couple of other single shot 22's.

I've got an old Stevens Model 15-A that was made by Savage. Good little gun. Best part is it was free.

I have an old remington 514 that I grew up with and inherited from my father. Shot more than My fair of snakes with it. Very accurate. From what I understand those rifles were targeted by the company to less than very well to do families like the one my father came up in, (share cropper). I restocked it for him one christmas when I was seventeen. I passed it along to my son.
Got a long barrel and Ideal for shooting those subsonic rounds with.:neener:

A Remington 514 here, too. What a great little rifle! Throw some match-grade ammo in there, and you can literally strike matches at 25 yards all day. It groups well under 1.25in at 50 yards.
And the really great thing is that you can take a flowerpot, set it 5 feet to the right and 2 feet behind you, and collect your brass with no effort at all!

Quigley, me too. great rifle, I shoot it more than any other rifle I have. Came from my grandfather to me, but Dad grew up shooting it and many others. My uncle's got the rest. What year was yours made? Mine was 1937, IIRC.

I've got an old Revalation (Western Auto) that my grandfather bought for my Uncle 40+ years ago. I recently fitted a Simmons 22 Mag scope on it and a set of swing studs. Shoots really well with the Federal 550 round boxes.

I have a single-shot bolt action .22lr. No marks of any kind. I'm not sure if it was homemade or factory produced, but it groups quite well. Oddly, it's a beast of a gun with a 32" long barrel! I'm still not sure who would do that, or why.

My first rifle was a Marlin "auto-safe" 22 single shot. I got the marksmanship merit badge with that rifle.

I gave it to my son when he was old enough. He still has it.

I bought a Anchuts (sp?) 22 kids gun to teach my grand kids. It's a bolt and has 5 or 10 rounds mags. The mags are now worth more than the gun!!

Now another co-worker wants me to GIVE him the Stevens for his son to use.

Get a different job.

I suspect a lot of old timers have more than a few in a back closet. I did an inventory yesterday and came up with eleven ranging from an 02 Winchester to a hardwood stocked Remington with a Nikon scope. Don't shoot them often enough. I absolutely dote on old Mossbergs. All deserve more range time. Shades of times long past. Remember, when they were purchased new they made someone very happy........Essex

Single Shot

I have an old Rem. 510 P. Used to be really accurate. About 40 years ago I lost part of the peep sight so had it drilled and tapped for an old Weaver side mount. Shot a many of turtle in the river with it. It would shoot inside and inch at 100 yards with no wind and 2 inches the rest of the time.
Had it drilled for regular Weaver top mounts about 10 years ago and installed a antique Weaver K-6. Doesn't shoot so good any more. 10,000 rounds thru it would be really conservative. My 3 kids shot it and several friend's kids shot it. It is flat worn out. Maybe I can re-barrel it and try to find someone to give it to for the next 60 years.
Oh, and the most amazing thing about my old Remington, my brother-in-law gave it to me about 1950. The only nice thing the A__hole ever did.

I have a Mossberg 340 that I converted to single-shot with a loading ramp from a 320. It had a finicky mag and was having trouble finding a replacement at a decent price, so I converted it. So now I essentially have a 320 with a big hole in it...

I don't have one, but I know one I'd like to have and that's an Ithaca 49, lever action single shot. I've got it's cousin the M-66 "Supersingle" 20 ga shotgun, and I'd just like to have the 22 to go with it. Just never seen the gun when I had the money.

Ok, it's not a bolt action. Sorry 'bout that.

Thanks and keep them coming. Show a few pics if you have them.

My dad gave one of those to my sister and was a fine shooting .22. Good luck in finding one.

The only single shot 22lr I have is a Daisy model 8. I bought it in the late 80's and only fired it a few times.

This will become my daughter's first gun.
