I learned how to shoot with a Marlin 15YN. At the present I own a Rossi Matched Pair, which comes with a .22LR barrel./ Not a bolt action, but a single shot none the less.
My first rifle was a Winchester lever-action, but later on I picked up a nice pre-war Mauser ES340B single shot which turned out to be a very fine rifle. It's a full sized rifle with fantastic sights and very accurate. Also have a couple of the H&R M12's from CMP which are great target rifles. I think the most unique single shot, although not a bolt gun, is my Ithaca Model 49 lever-action that uses a falling block style action worked by the lever, and has to have the hammer manualy cocked after chambering a round which makes it quite safe for beginners. Here's a pic of the 49.
Cheers,
azimuth
