Why are pump action rifles not popular any more?

PA has alot of government regulation for hunting. Do you still have to put a list of who hunted on the camp door and what caliber they used? Another thing that just blew me way to much government regulation. Problem is if you are raised that way, you just don't know any better.

In general I think the DNR oversteps the 4th Amendment by coming on property where a crime has not been commited, and no suspiscion of.

A pump action gives you less forearm, somewhat limiting your options. Especially if you want to shoot it fast, you have to hold a pump farther out on the stock. That's one possible advantage of lever actions. I dunno, really. I like my bolt guns just fine.

I've never seen a pump action rifle in a movie. That sure doesn't help the popularity.

Only if you pump forward to lock the action ;). Anyways, don't the AR guys like having their arms reached way out there nowadays?

One of my sons is a leftie. He really liked the BPS we got him, so I thought he would really like the Rem 760 in .270 Win. He hated it. The safety was on the wrong side, and the magazine was a pure PITA. The gun was very accurate, but he never got comfortable with it. So we traded it in on a stainless laminated Ruger M77 LH and he loves it.

I was googling about cutting my 22" 30 06 down. I am not the only one thinking about it. Haven't shot in years but would give me an excuse

I really like the remington iron sights. Not sure how losing 4" would effect it. Everyone else has scope, which I'd probably do. But don't feel like the investment.
