The Original Remington Pump

I have a remington Model 14, serial no. is from 1917. It was my Dad's deer rifle, and before that it was his Dad's. I recently took it to the range, and took along a recently acquired 1949 Winchester Model 94 (in pretty good shape).
The Model 14 was originally developed to shoot .30 Remington, basically a rimless 30-30. It was also offered in .25 Remington, .32 Remington, and (of course) .35 remington.

My Dad and Granddad killed a lot of deer with that Model 14, and after printing some paper I see why. Next to the Remington, the Model 94 group was pretty poor. -Not that the Model 14 was m.o.a, but it definitely could (and did) take down deer at 75-100 yards reliably and quickly. My Dad's last was a 10pt. 180lb. whitetail; all he saw over the ridgetop was head and neck, and he put the shot just behind and a little below the ear -DRT.:D
