Why semantics on firearms terminology actually matters

I have no idea, but in the CONTEXT, I would imagine, "Oh, so you're Russian? Right?".

Context is everything.

One does not need to say a single number to discuss handloading with a reloader. But one must use numbers to discuss handloading with a Gambler.;)

I think the practice of enforcement is actually very fairly doled out, with neither, liberals, New Bees, the unwise, nor the unwilling to comply receiving more brow beats than anyone else.

In fact, brow beatings seem to be on the rise for the populace as a whole.

What an interesting bullet I just clipped from this magazine.
It reads: Mute Man Misunderstood.
:D
Close, and actually, I goofed on it. It should be "On ti govoREESH pa RUSski? Nyet?" It means "Do you speak Russian? No?"

I always liked reading Hornblower with RN Anglicization of French sea chart nomenclature.
I will continue to accent the first syllable of the PM's name.

Of course the whole point being that it’s kind of tacky to correct someone’s pronunciations, use of non-specific nomenclatures, manner of dress or parentage.:)

I’ve been instructed several times that it’s pronounced Sahhko, not Sayeko. I’m from Michigan, I AM saying Sako!
It just sounds like Sanko...

But I still disagree that we as a whole are more strict with non-firearms humans.

It may seem that way.
But it always seems that way to the layman upon correction. Sometime it may be a technical question and proper nomenclature is are required, some times we can just nod when they say “the shark gills that you pull are too sharp”.
The context is always important.

And, yeah, humans are jerks sometimes.

But I don’t see how being more strict, on alleged fellow compatriots, would bring about any more meaningful common ground between each other, nor the general public of onlooking citizens...

I have enjoyed this thread. Despite its disagreements and the back and forth comments, the discussion has remained civil (not always the case in such situations) and the rationales very clearly stated.
