Will the AR ever have competition?

Coming from someone who hopes to never again have to hold one of those AR rifles, I think the seeming overnight growth of 2 or 3 gun games, which are designed to showcase the merits or strengths of the AR series of rifles, has pretty much cemented them in place in the US as a "sporting" rifle. I think that without that expansion of games or competitions in which to use one of these pogo sticks, they would lack much of the popularity they now enjoy. Simply because people would lack a use for them.

The number of people using them in 3 gun competition doesn't even register as a microscopic blip on the radar of total sales.

They are the legos of the gun world. They can be built into virtually anything you want. That is why they are popular.

macgrumpy .... In reality the most common sporting rifle (as opposed to just a modern sporting rifle) is the Remington 700 style rifles.
What is your source for this claim?:scrutiny: " cause the Remington 700 came to market in 1962 vs 1958 for the AR15 pattern..........making the AR older.;)

By "Remington 700 style".....do you mean a bolt action rifle? If so, Paul Mauser wants to talk to you.:D
