I'd ask why not but I'm sure the answer has something to do with getting too close to the thing trying to harm you? I've heard of Eastern Euro hunters hunting bear with odd spear devices.I doubt that I would.
I find bayonets so interesting it just seems odd people never use them anymore. If one were to use a bayo it certainly would make hunting a bit more interesting.heck yeah, I've been using bayonets for close to 25 years now. Never stuck a feller with one and don't intend to- but those suckers are tough and make a great field tool.
well I realize you can't go around sticking everything but if you had your rifle would you use it if you had to ie. attacked by something or is that illegal?Hunting?? Please check your local game regs!
well I'm sure there are reasons why a bayonet would be beneficial in a hd situation. Some sort of jam or something.Bayonets change the harmonics of the barrel and will change your POA/POI. Not something I want when I really need to make a shot count. And why would I want to make an already long gun even longer when I'm using it indoors for HD? If they're close enough that you'd be able to use a bayonet, just pull the trigger!
That's why my AR15 has one. I can't think of anyone wanting to get stabbed with a bayonet.well I'm sure there are reasons why a bayonet would be beneficial in a hd situation. Some sort of jam or something.
But you wanted a pic of a pig sticker... here you go:
No one's agreed with you yet and aren't likely to. With a working firearm, and most are reliable (and if yours isn't then you've got other issues), why would you even consider needing something to make it even more unwieldy? Attached to a rifle/shotgun (and Heaven help us)/pistol they make even poorer home defense tools than weapons on the modern battlefield. Like a spear or large sword or large club they take too much room to effectively wield in the confines of homes. They'd be hung up on the furniture, walls or ceiling in short order in the hands of an incompetent user. Equally challenging is the unwieldy combination of long gun and bayonet. Even in areas where you can't own functional firearms no one would mount a bayonet on a replica over simply picking a short spear or baseball bat. A competent user would simply pick something else that was more efficient. Also, why would anyone in a emergency take the time to put a bayonet onto the end of an unwieldy long gun, that happens to go BANG, when moments can make the difference between the life of you and your family and death? It doesn't take much effort to discount the idea.I'm sure there are reasons why a bayonet would be beneficial in a hd situation.
