I can't read that website, it makes my eyes glaze over. If someone is registered over there why not post and invite the lady over here where she can get some advice from people who know what they're talking about. Asking DU for advice on packing heat is like asking a fish how to ride a Schwinn.

True enough, don't ask for advice over there.

The anti-gun people at DU tend to be very frothing at the mouth, obviously full of rage, and apparently incapable of making a coherent answer to pro-2nd Amen arguments. Nonetheless, just think about how many Democratics read that board who maybe haven't made up their minds, or who have never really had to engage a logical pro-2nd Amendment argument. Those are the people whose hearts and minds are at stake.

Over here we all tend to agree with each other on gun issues, and so end up having to argue over Iraq, or whose favorite gun is the bestest.

I see that some of our people regularly post quality stuff over there. More power to 'em.
 
Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that one of their own (a MMM'er no less!) has seen the light - too bad it was the hard way. It's fun watching them go through the mental gymnastics they are right now trying to keep their insulated little "world-views" intact while trying to deal with the whole thing.

Still, advice and help is what that lady needs and this is the place to get it, not there. Here she can talk to other women who have actually defended themselves with firearms rather than debating with people who not only haven't done it, but haven't even spent one millisecond of their lives considering the idea.

She has been invited over in as sensitive and respectful way that I could muster.

I don't post over there but thought this was a good cause and besides anybody who goes through a bad time, anybody deserves a little support.

Cslinger did a find job. I lurk there to see what the DU folks are interested in. NOT under this name of course. I have very few posts there. Not many here either:)

The individual in question (a lady) was mugged at gunpoint. She now has questions and needs answers. If she shows up, I will assume that we might give her the best information we can so that she might make an informed decision. We normally do.

Once again, good job. Maybe the Mrs Slinger might chime in and provide another perspective.

Now that its happened to HER its ok for US to want to protect ourselves. And therein is my problem with her and others of her ilk.
 
I agree, but you can't just give up on people because they disagree with your beliefs. Sometimes we don't see the forest for the trees.

Part of doing your part for RKBA is respecting other peoples opinions and being there if and when they come over to test the waters.

I find the great majority of people are simply un-educated fence walkers who only know what the Tee-vee tells them. The minority are the rest of us who fall to extremes of either side. We need to do our part to teach, help and generally support that middle group.

You get more flies with honey and the more people I take shooting, teach about the laws or just generally show that I am not a baby killing, camoflage wearing, psycho the better for all of us.

No offense to any baby killing, camoflage wearing psychos we may have as members.:D :what:

In all honesty I really hope that what I said wasn't out of line with their forum rules. I really was just trying to help.

See I can do nice things and be a good person from time to time, even though Sheslinger suspects I hate 9/10s of the worlds population. It can't be more that 6/10s.:scrutiny:
 
Wow! I was totally sickened by some of the statements I read over on DU. Here's a sampling:

"Guns are only used for killing." Given the fact that the average THR member probably sends several thousand rounds down range every year, I guess that means we as a group are responsibe for literally millions of murders. I mean, according to this moron, what else can all our guns be used for except for killing?

"It likely end-up on the street like so many other guns." It will??!! Based on what? What data backs this up other than a mere assertion? (answer: none)

"Do you think you could do that to another living, breathing human being?" Well, I guess I cannot fault someone for their beliefs, but I have to wonder if this statement came from another armchair philosopher who has never faced their own mortality? Quick, a THR poll! How many women on this board would rather be raped than kill a rapist? Huh. No hands raised. How about that.

"I think there are a lot of statistics to show that you are more likely to shoot a family member by accident than a burglar." Uh-huh. Gee, I think there are a lot of statistics that show stupid people live short lives. You should make a will soon.

"I've known a handful of people who carried guns (legally and otherwise) and none of them ever prevented any crime whatsoever (I thought they were all idiots,with or without their little friends). Yea, you're right. You are a pretty despicable character. People like you need to be locked up in concentration camps. Roasting is too good for you. ;) Actually I think your post was quite circumspect but it won't protect you from being called every name in the book.


The scary thing is there are people who are so twisted they really believe that it is better for a few sacrificial lambs to be slaughtered every day by the wolves than for us alpha dogs to have teeth.
 
I went over and checked that site out... found it thoroughly sickening. glad some of you are willing to go into the trenches, wading through waist deep antigunner excrement, to help steer wayward would be victims in the right direction.

Been a while since I checked out our "progressive" bretheren over at DU.

Here is an example that says it all for the DU in particular and Leftists in general. The following is the text of the "Rules" for the DU forum. Read it carefully.........I changed about 8 words. When it said "Democrats" or "Progressives" I replaced it with "Republican" or "Conservative" etc.

I hope it makes you sick to read this.........it speaks volumes about the opposing sides of the current Civil War raging in this country:

Interestingly enough, when you run a Google search for "mmm" the first non-corporate or computer related thing that shows up (on the fourth page of links) is actually the Million Marijuana March.
 
Wow, that thread had a LOT of constructive replies. I'm sure many are from people here. Over at the board I frequent more (ARFCOM), we have a few people that do some trolling over there.

This liberalhistorian woman seems like she's seen the light. Like someone commented, sometimes it takes that violation to see the light.


One request for anyone over there... Can someone post a link to A Nation Of Cowards? It might be a good read.
