I have recently purchased a XD 40. I can't say enough how much I like my pistol. I love the grip angle and material. Such an accurate pistol out of the box as well. Chrono'd it today at around 1250 fps. So for all you XD owners how do you like it? Anything you don't like?

I have been extremely happy with my XD45 Service Model. It is one of my carry guns. I did change sights though and put on a set of Tru-Glo Tritium Fiber Optics. I carry it. IWB, in a Brommeland Max Con V.

I bought my XD40 subcompact about a year and a half ago, and I too love the little thing. I haven't seen it in a few months, I'm deployed, but I've got a few short mags with the pinky extension that hold 9 I think and a full size with the grip extension that holds 12. It's a great fiream for the price, and a bit more attractive than the glock. I took it to a gun show once for trade or sell, and it was popular with everyone who looked at it, and the offers were right at what I had paid for it. I ended up not parting with it, wasn't even sure why I took it in the first place, but It made me feel better about keeping it.
When I first got it I also bought a little X2 light to go on the rail, it made for a handy home defense weapon. Oh yeah, after looking around, there aren't too many subcompacts that offer the accessory rail, glock doesn't I don't think. Another reason I'm glad I kept it. I'm a believer in the weapons lights. Anyway, enjoy your XD.

I'm on XD #3, I had a 4" service .40 then a XD45 when they first came out. I wanted something a bit more concealable so I traded off for an XD40sc. I have complete faith in the gun, as much as you can for anything mechanical. It has never had an ftf or fte (and neither did it's XD predecessors).

I bought a drop-in 9mm conversion barrel for plinking and I've had a some jams with that but I am not using 9mm mags so that could be the issue there. I would not edc a "conversion" anything.

It's one tough piece and I keep it in my truck console when not on me. It's no pocket rocket so summer carry is kinda tough, I think the weapon is a bit bulky.

I have added Crimson trace laser grip which did slightly add to the girth and I highly recommend the Pearce pinky grip extension for the short mag if your going with a 40 cal.

Over all, two thumbs up!

I have an XD SC in .40 with a 9MM conversion barrel. I like it a lot. I would like to see an all steel one one range work, but then it would cost a great deal more.

Where did you guys pick up the sub compact conversion barrell. I have been looking for one for my .40 SC and cannot find one.

I love the gun by the way. No complaints.

I have 2 XDs - 45 compact, 40 sub-compact. Both great shooters, very dependable.

After several years of resisting, I bought a XD45. I love it! It's very accurate and reliable, the ergonomics are great and it's reasonably priced as well.

for me there is no other gun that i shoot better, enjoy more, and trust as much as my xd service model in .40. it has over 13,000rds through it and i couldn't be happier with its performance. i have and continue to run it hard. it has been through 3 different handgun courses, as well as carried on a daily basis, as well i have put every kind of ammo that i could get through it, with no issues.

FYI, I don't know how it's working these days with the current demand for firearms but a couple years ago when I ordered the subcompact 9mm conversion for my .40 it also said out-of-stock... but I got it in less than two weeks.
I got mine trying to find something my wife would like. The .40 is just too much for a timid non shooter. She didn't like the 9mm version either. She likes my rimfire rifles and about the only pistol she enjoys is my 1911 with a .22 conversion. I'm about to try her on .38s in my heavy Ruger 357..... but I'm thinking some people just don't like shootin.

oh well, more for me and I'm going into thread drift..

I've had my XD-40 for about 18 month's now, I have around 3500 rounds out of it, no issues. Its a great shooting, ergonomically correct pistol for me, I really like it.:) 95% of my ammo are handloads, this gun eats them all.:)

I like it. It's accurate, realiable, but when I look at it, I'm not in love with it. I could toss it and just pick up another and never know the difference!

I bought a XD45 compact bi-tone stainless/black. I was impressed with the grip, capacity, and soft recoil. I bought a 2nd one in all black and I'm getting night sights put on it.

I've put about 300 rounds through each pistol and had one malfunction; the fired case didn't get out and the next round started to feed. I pulled the slide to free the case and resumed shooting.

I picked up my XD45 compact several years ago and have enjoyed it very much. I put a set of Tru-glo tritium fibers on it and called it good.

About a year ago, I picked up a XD9 bi-tone service. Other than shooting the heck out of it, it is just as it came. It is my practice pistol and so I've considered doing some work on it but haven't committed to that yet.

At the range, I use a Blade Tech kydex holster. For CCW, I use an OWB Galco Concelable.

I bought an XD 45 with a 4in barrel and I supprised how well it fits in my hand for a high cap. mag. (13+1 rds.) gun. It's far from being my favorite gun but it shoots good and hits where I aim it. LM

Something nobody has said yet, the safeties, I was used to shooting the M-9, so got an XD and went to the range, it wasn't until about a week later that it really hit me when I was practicing trigger work. Get gun, point, shoot. Still makes me a little leery sometimes, but it is the best in that you never worry about a manual safety, just the 4 rules.

Oh and all the other stuff, fun fun fun

I have an XD compact tactical in 45 acp and I love it. Extremely reliable and accurate hand gun. I shoot it in USPSA and IDPA. In fact I like it so much I decided to get another XD to keep it company. Its an XDm 9mm. Just picked it up Friday and got to run a few boxes of ammo thru it Saturday after my match. It's pretty sweet! Hard to believe that baby holds 20 rounds in the palm of your hand! Thats getting into AR territory!! ;)

Shadow 7D, My XD 45 has a manual thumb safty. I was at a gun show and looking the XD's over deciding between a 9mm or .45 acp. Well the .45 won out but then it came down which size 5" 4" full size or a more compac version. I ended up liking the 4" full size, which he had 3, one them had the thumb safty (which he pointed out) and thats the one I ended up buying. LM
