I have to say the Garand, the greatest battle rifle ever made. Patton somebody said something like that.

SMLE No 4 MK I 303 British:

m1 garand
m1A
m1 carbine
(something about the ker-thunk after the report, of a semi auto. and that ping after 8 rounds pushes the garand to the top)

K31 my favorite non semi auto
mosin 91/30
M48 mauser (kicks like a mule on crack but handles well)

My favorite is my DPM28. How can you not like 47 rounds of 7.62x54R.

So far, in this order:

M1917 Eddystone
M1 Garand
Arisaka Type 99
1903A3

All my Euro based rifles are WAY to far from stock to be considered in this thread. I do like to shoot the Enfield and Mauser sporters. But, the only stock parts left are the receivers.

Still under construction - Arisaka Type 38 "school gun" and Carbine, among others :)

Germster, you've had some beauties through the years!

Recently, I found a '96 Swede from 1916. Yesterday I picked up a set of dies and a box of 140 grs to go with it. Fun times.
Those Swedes are wonderful shooting rifles. They have a great sight picture. Light kickers, fast bullets and strong actions. What more can one want? I've got the long one made in 1905 and the MK38 made in WWII. The older one shoots best.

My '96 Swedish Mauser (dated 1908) was a tack driver for years, even with the less-than-perfect bore. There have been only a couple of loads it wouldn't shoot well. Very good quality, great accuracy, mild recoil, satisfying operation, straightforward handloading, interesting history - all in one rifle.

Eventually that barrel went south - umpteen thousand rounds as an NRA match rifle will do that - and the surplus replacement barrel hasn't been broken in yet. Right now, it's back in the factory stock, with a Williams FP98TK receiver sight, tall front post, and a Timney trigger. Just the way I like it.

I may eventually go back to the original rear sight and trigger and use it for vintage matches. Or not.

My H&R M1 Garand isn't bad, but I don't shoot it nearly as well.

Well, as my name entails, I am completely infatuated with the Mosin Nagants. Especially my M1944 Carbine. Ammo is cheap, reasonably accurate for what it is, and that recoil combined with weight just rings "MANLY RIFLE."

However, from a true shooter's standpoint, I would have to say it was my K31. Finely balanced, accurate as all get out, the rifle alone is worth $580 more than I paid for it, and recoil isn't terrible.

I own quite a few...but on the fun scale.

M1 Carbine is pretty darn fun.
SVT-40 is real fun.
MAS 49/56 gets lots of looks...and jokes :banghead:
MAS 36 more of the same :cuss:

The french rifles are some of the sweetest shooting rifles I own.

I have the others Carcano, Krag, Type 99, they are sure cool but I do not enjoy them like the above....If I had to pick just one and the most fun it would be the M1 Carbine....that thing is just a blast.

My latest find has been a pleasant surprise. Picked it up pretty cheap since the auction description stated the bore was shot. Needs a little tweaking, but it will get there.
