I really like my CZ 97, great shooter, would like better sights and will remedy this year. I have been looking at a Sig 220 of late, if I buy a pistol this year, it'll probably be the 220. I've fallen in lust with the .45ACP in general, now have 4 handguns in this caliber.

The finest non-1911 would have to be the older S&W model 645, full size, 5" bbl. I shot it for many years, competed in IPSC, and PPC competitions ,and it more than held it's own against 1911s,in spite of the DA/SA trigger. It was just about the only stock S&W that would feed empty cases. JMHO

Sig 220 ST. Wow, what a great gun.

When I shoot my steel target at 50 yds. with it, people come up to me to ask what I'm shooting.

Made me buy a Bar-Sto barrel for my Springer Loaded, it's so good.

Non-1911 platform favorite is the KP-90 Ruger. (Stainless version of the P-90).

I haven't fired a Sig or CZ, so I can't comment on them. Have tried a couple of Glocks, but I didn't like the "fit & feel" of Gaston's offerings.

Witness Full Size Steel .45 ACP. A little on the heavy side but the most fun 45 I have ever owned or shot. Have won 2 contests with it so far.

Until just recently I would have said a Glock 30 or 21, of which I own both, but after recently buying a Sig 220 that opinion has changed in favor of the Sig. The P220 just feels better in my hand and I really like the fit and action of its slide. I'm not crazy about the DA trigger but in single action mine is pretty nice. That said though the Glock 21 has a lot going for it for a home defense gun as it carries 14 rounds and has a rail for a weapon mounted light.

Looks like Sig 220 is in the big lead, CZ97 distant second, with Glock 21 off the charts. The only .45 I own or have experience with other than the 1911s is the Glock 21.

We all like winners, so I vote Sig 220
