Your favorite S&W 357?

I do not have one...yet anyway...but I like the Model 28. Rough, tough, utilitarian firearm for hard service. My buddy has a 6" model. A big tough piece of steel and wood.

My favorite (and only) S&W .357 is my 4" 7 shot model 686, in stainless finish. It's a beautiful piece, and I think what I love most about it (outside of the big "boom") is the sweet trigger pull, both in DA and SA.

Model 13 with a 4" barrel. I have two; one blued, the other nickel. They're my home defense weapons, but I keep 'em loaded with 38+P FBI loads rather than full-house 357 rounds.

Model 19 4inch in nickle. My wife bought it new for my (our) first christmas. 1977

Old model 28 Highway Patrolman. 6" barrel and an action smooth as oiled glass. Locks up like a bank vault after thirty years of shooting. Bought it new as a kid, loved it ever since.

Favorite shooter; 8 3/8" Model 27. Pleasant and easy to shoot well, not so much fun to carry. I use a shoulder holster. Long barrel gives good velocity. Big strong frame withstands fairly hot loads. Well-used 50 year old revolver in top condition, still sexy. Wonderful gun.

Next favorite shooter; 6" Model 686.

Favorite carry; 1 7/8" Model 360 SS. Scandium alloy J-frame with stainless steel 5-shot cylinder. Very concealable and comfortable carrying in pocket of slacks. Nasty little thing to shoot.

.357 mag

My favorite .357 Mag, is my S&W Model 681=same as 686 less adjustable sights. It shoots to the point of aim with proper 158-.357 handloads, and just feels right in my hand.:D:)

S&W 686Plus; Ruger New Model Blackhawk Convertible

As much as I like K-frames, the slickest revolver I have is my 686Plus with a 4 inch barrel. I bought it from the days before the Hillary Hole (I spit).

For single action, I like the New Model Blackhawk convertible. Mine's got the 4 5/8 inch blued barrel, and if I didn't have it, I'd buy it in stainless with 5 1/2 inches of barrel. Utterly reliable and will take loads I wouldn't put in my S&W.

My 66-3 snubbie. For a short barrel, it is phenomenally accurate, it is fun, it has the greatest trigger (it "taught" me to shoot DA well :)) and I love it.

6" model 19, not too heavy to pack, very accurate, good deer hunting revolver....

I only own one Smith & Wesson 357 mag revolver, Model 19. Guess it is my favorite. I actually prefer Colt.

I lament a nice Model 66 2 1/2" I sold a while back to put food on the table. But I later replaced it with a 2 1/2" Model 686+ that shoots even better than my old '66, even though it has a lock. That said, a good gun's a good gun regardless of what the lawyers did to it, and the glassy smooth 686+ is worming it's way into my heart.

My first .357 was a 6" Model-28 Highway Patrolman. It was a "10" on the coolness factor but alas it was a Bangor Punta effort and spit lead chronically. Never could get it fixed right, so I sold it. Nevertheless, I still miss that piece.

The 686 mainly because that is what I started with over 20 years ago. I have fired a lot of rounds through 4 different 686s. Plus my current 686-4 6" is the most accurate of all the 357 revolvers I have owned.

The Smith 27 is one that I hope to own some day. If I could have any of the older blued pinned/recessed Smiths it would be the Model 27.

Also have a pinned/recessed 66-1. Would be nice to have a Model 19 to go with it!
