First gun: Remington Nylon 66 in 1958, when I turned 10 - still have it
First Shotgun: Western Field .410 bolt action - still have it
First handgun: Hi-Standard Sentinel .22 revolver, 6" bbl - still have it
First combat handgun: Colt 1911A1 that came home from WWII - sold it for 10X what I paid for it. Wish I still had it!
My first was a Winchester 69A. My dad bought two brand new, one for him and one for me when I was 14. I inherited his and found that they are consecutive serial numbers. I put target sights on mine and shot in Junior NRA target shoots back then. It is a great rifle and I love shooting it.
First firearm was a gift from my wife (with the aid of my father-in-law): a Mossberg 500 combo ... vent rib shot barrel and a cylinder bore barrel with rifle sights. Great gun that has taken a lot of game over the years.
My wife, though, now realizes she created a monster!
First firearm was a German Luger WWII bring back. A few years later traded it
for a Colt Commander. 45 ACP was a lot easier to find and cheaper than 9mm in those
days.
Getting rid of that Luger was probably my biggest firearm mistake.
That was fifty years ago, lots of different firearms have come and gone since then.
Well, not including a BB rifle and an air-pellet pistol I've had since 22 (well, at least the pistol):
Weirauch (EAA) Windicator .38 Spl. snub-nose. Still have it, still carry it, still shoot it. Bought it off my Captain for $100. Only had 20 rounds fired through it when I bought it. Now has more than a few thousand rounds through it, with holster wear to show.
Since my parents/family/ex-g/f's were all anti-gun, I ended up waiting until the ripe old age of 27 to obtain it! (I just turned 28 last March HAHA!)
Just bought my first autoloader last February: Bersa FireStorm .45
Hopefully this year or beginning of next I'll have my shottie and a rifle!
Model 510 Remington 22 I received 58 years ago. Still have it in the gun safe, doesn't see much use any more. Guess I'll get it out and shoot it again.
First gun was a CVA Bobcat. A fun little smokepole.
First centerfire rifle was a Turk Mauser.
First centerfire handgun was a HiPoint 380. It worked but I didn't like it. I traded it a few days ago for a Mosin Nagant M44 and 2 boxes of ammo.
First rimfire handgun was a Heritage Rough Rider, steel frame. It works and I still have it. A nice knock-around gun.
First firearm was a Remington Mohawk 48, 20ga, 26" Imp cyclinder shotgun. I still have the gun and my last outing with the gun I downed 20 birds with 20 shells. Nothing like the gun you grew up with!
First Handgun, Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag. with Aimpoint scope. My Deer hunting handgun, it's taken a 4 Whitetail bucks and a Bobcat. One of favorite handguns to this day.
Not counting numerious air rifles and pistols... my first firearm was a Hi-Point 9mm composite.
So was my second.
My third was a Yugo SKS and my 4th was a CZ52.
I have just recently aquired a Bulgarian Makarov and I now wish I had gotten that instead of the hi-points. After shooting the Bulgie the Hi-Point feels so loose and inaccurate I am probably not going to use it much anymore. If only 9mm Makarov was as cheap and as easy to get as 9mm Luger.
I am glad the hi-point was there as a starter weapon that allowed me to learn the basics while not spending lots of cash.
Shoot, everyone is listing their first rifle and shotgun etc so I will too!
First autoloader: Colt NRM Government
First Revolver: Smith and Wesson 686-4 (pre-lock) Powerported .357 magnum
First Shotgun: Remington Wingmaster 28" VR
First Rifle: Springfield Armory M1A standard.
Steven's Savage Mod.15-2 22L.R.
Bolt action single shot. Worked all summer, to earn $ mowing
lawn's so Dad could get it for me.
LONG SUMMER!!!!!! Age 8.
First Shotgun: 1972 Purchased a 16 ga JC Higgns bolt action from my neighbor for $10
First Pistol: 1977 Ruger Single Six .22 purchased new. My mom had to sign for me as I was only 18.
I have never actually purchased a rifle for myself. Purchased a used .22 Remington Nylon 66 for my boys and a new Bushmaster AR15 for my oldest son last year.
First guns I shot, S&W 686, Ruger GP100, Beretta 92fs, S&W 9mm of some sort, maybe a 639 I think. Don't normal families start you out with a 22?
First gun I bought with my own money but dad bought for me was a Sundance Boa 25acp, what a mistake, gun long sold off.
First gun I bought myself was a FIE 25acp Titan, actually works well and I still own it.
Think my first rifle I shot was a Chinese paratroop SKS and the first long guns I bought were a Remington 870HD 12ga and a Bulgarian SA-93 7.62x39 I had my dad buy for me while I was in the military. Can't remember the first long gun I purchased in my own name.
First Firearm: Reproduction Brown Bess musket 2nd Land Patern .75cal smoothbore. safest location is muzzle end
First handgun: Walther PPK/S .380ACP
First Revolver: Ruger New Model Blackhawk .357mag 6-1/2" barrel
first Rifle: SMLE No1 Mk 1*** made around 1904
First shotgun: Mossberg 850 12ga
First Rimfire: Ruger Mk II Govt Target blued
the SMLE was quite a find for the price. I think that the guy was surprised that I didn't try to haggle on the price at the show.
