Do you keep track of number of times brass has been fired?

For my .300 Weatherby I keep track. .280 Rem I try 30'06 I try. Now this is where it gets difficult. .223 and .308 semi auto, ie AR15 and AR 10 Gave up on the .223 and still try with the .308's. .45 ACP, shoot them until they split. Only some Remington brass has split in the...

Seating primers with CCI brass- PITA

This is strange. CCI is among my favorites to seat a primer into (.45 ACP). They just glide in and seat.

how do you feel about the NRA?

Contrary to the belief of some, the NRA has been championing the cause of the EBR's (evil black rifles) for quite a while. It has also been championing the cause of the wood stocked Fudd guns. I belong in both camps and I am about to turn 50. My offspring have limited interest in...

So I broke out the chrono for the 1st time today...

Chronographs sure are eye openers. I have a Oehler 35P. Lots of guys have asked me over the past 18 years or so if they can run their ammo thru it. I always say yes. However, most of them went away very angry, sometimes even telling me my machine was screwed up. Nobody wants to believe...

    Lead going crazy!

Wheel weights are very difficult to get around here. You almost have to be a personl friend or relative of the local tire shop managers. On a side note. I have several hundred pounds of pure lead that came from an exray room that was remodeled. I was wonder if anyone uses pure lead for .45...

    Precision Bullets

I just saw a statement about the Precision Bullets "crudding" the barrel. Ironically, this happens in one of my 1911's also. The other one shoots them just fine. Don't have any idea why my 4 incher does not like them. Perhaps the barrel is rough. However, with all other kinds of bullets it...

    Precision Bullets

I have used thousands of their bullets in .45. No problems, once I found the correct seating depth.

    Pulled 223 rounds question

I use pulled bullets exclusively for my AR plinking loads. They have some marks on them, especially one on the side of the bullet. It gives the impression that the bullet is out of round. The ones that I buy from Hi Tech Ammo are supposed to be already re-sized. I have found that these work...

Am. Eagle AE223 primer pocket sleeve

Funny that I would run into this thread today. Just a few days ago I loaded a bunch of FC marked brass that had the primer crimp. Also had some type of primer sealant that was red. These cases gave me fits for a number of reasons. First of all, the crimp was almost never centered, ala Lake...

Winchester Small Rifle (WSR) primers and AR type guns

Let me throw my two cents in here. I have used Winchester Small Rifle, Remington 7.5, and Remington 6.5 primers extensively for my AR's. I have found that for a given load, the Winchesters flatten out much more. In fact, usually with the same load, the Remington's , either variety, look as...

    AR15 Gas piston uppers

I have the Leitner-Wise rifle. I got is in mid-December of '05. After about 2500-3000 rounds through it here are my observations. Recoil impulse is definitely different. I can't really explain it, but it seems to be quicker, if that makes sense. Reliability. I have never been in a position...

    Think the AR-15 is dying?

These gas piston uppers... this threat is my first encounter with hearing about these. Isn't that what the Hk 416 utilizes? Can you switch any AR-15 to this system? How reliable is it? I have a LWRC piston carbine. I can say this. The bolt/carrier group does not get hot, even in extened...

Where do you get your lead?

That bit about fishing sinkers vs bullets has some merit. One tire shop even asked me "you are not making bullets, now, are you?"

Anyone loading rifle on a progressive?

I load .308 and .223 on a Dillon 550, as well as many handgun calibers. As for removing the lube. Just wipe it off. I use the Hornady stuff and it wipes off easily. On my.223's I have already sized and trimmed the cases with the Dillon case trimmer. I have the size die on the 550 set to...

    45 acp FMJ questions.

DaveR, I, too, use TiteGroup--and AA#2. You must be very careful with both. It is so easy to double charge these powders. I am thinking of returning to AA#5 so I don't have to worry so much. However, I am so cheap that it may be hard to do. :D
