CZ 75 BD. Like the BHP and the p7-m8. I have the CZ. Now to aquire the other two . Some day.....

The best for me is the hi-power because of its feel in my hand and its factory acurate! My second choise is the G19 because of its reliability and ease of field stripping but is second to me because I prefer single action and I wasnt acurate with it!I only like 9's in which hi-cap mags are avalible!

Glock 26. Funny, I never wanted a 9mm pistol until I got my CCW. Then it was about all I could think of. The 26 is extremely accurate, incredibly small, and spits out anything I put in it, though now it is on a steady diet of Hydra-shoks. Also had a Taurus Millenium, but sold it in favor of a Kimber CDP. While a decent gun, it didn't compare to the Glock.

.45 ACP is still my favorite caliber, but I now love 9mm also.

Wow, hard to believe I started this thread two months ago!!

In spite of the 1994 Crime Bill, and inroads by the 357 Sig and 40S&W, it seems the 9mm is not only alive but thriving:cool:

And with the improvements in self defense ammo and lots of available cheap practice ammo, it's going to be around for many years to come.

Looking back through the threads, there are a lot of choices out there for the folks that feel "Nine is fine". I think I'm going to need a bigger safe soon.:uhoh:

Unofficial tallies

I have tabulated votes differently than the last guy. Votes were counted from reading a post where a clear favorite was chosen. Where folks listed more than one favorite, the one listed first got the vote, (the subconcious speaks!). There is no second place winner. Vote went to manufacturer, unless using model type made more sense (1911 & XD).

1911: 2
Astra: 1
Beretta: 21
BHP and Clones: 42
CZ and clones: 17
Glock: 20
H&K: 13
Kahr: 4
Llama: 1
Luger: 2
Mauser (Broomhandle): 1
Ruger: 4
SIG: 22
S&W Auto: 10
S&W Revo: 1
Star: 2
Taurus: 2
Tec-9: 1
Walther: 9
XD/HS2000: 4

Glock 34

I bought this gun just to shoot steel, so it's mainly a range gun. I like the 5" barrel (looking to get a 6" G17L barrel later) which gives it the same size as my 1911's. I have a BHP, but the trigger needs a little work. I have my eye on a CZ 75SA in the future, so we'll see how things change then. For now, the cheap ammo, reliability of the Glock, and soft shooting has started me on what I never thought I'd do, and that's collect 9mm's!

Favorite: Sig P226.
Why: Reliability: 4000+ rds, never a failure to feed, nary a hiccup;
Fit: With Nills grips, it fits my hand(s) perfectly;
Accuracy: It took a lot of fussing, but I am very satisfied with the XPress BigDot sights---group size with this particular gun has never been an issue. (Three years ago, I tried a P226 that had been fitted with a peep sight and was extensively smithed-not much use for carry, but very, very accurate at the range-unfortunately it was not for sale).

Another vote for the BHP- for all the same reasons already listed. Mine's a practical. With an abundance of high quality $20 - 17rd high caps available it's a hard package to beat.

Late 1980's Tanfoglio TA-90 (CZ-75 clone - sort of). Why? It's the only 9MM I've ever owned. Cheap to feed and believe it or not, more accurate than most guns I've seen on the range for four time the price. Oh, it's a high cap too, and the all steel frame dampens recoil to the point that you'd almost think you were shooting a .22 (were it not for the bigger bang and bigger chunk of brass that comes flying out of the ejection port).

Hi Guys,

Great thread. I have owned or have extensive experience with the ASP, Glock 19, S&W 3913, Sig 228, HK P7M8, Sig P210-6, Browning P35, Colt Pocket 9, Walther P5c, Kahr PM9, and most recently a S&W 952-1.

I have to say, my favorite is the one that I have shot the most, carried CCW often, used in a combat pistol course, has been completely reliable, and would count on with my life...the highly underrated S&W 3913. I like it so much, I bought another one NIB to save. I'm also thinking about getting a TSW model.

Best
