Since Remington has been brought up, has anybody seen any Yellow Jacket .22 lately? I haven't seen any since 2014...

The only thing I can find here is Winchester and at least 1 of every 5 rounds will not fire in any rimfire gun I own.

Can't say I've had similar results, but I have several thousand post-2012-panic rounds I have not tried yet, including some Winchester stuff and one of the Remington 1400-count buckets. At least I have some revolvers and both a bolt gun and a lever gun for what I find out to be unreliable.

With your Winchester warning in mind, maybe I'll just toss aside every fifth round when I load the mags. :D

My brother had about 15K rnds of Winchester T-22 and early this year asked me to sell it for him (along with a bunch of other stuff). He's unloading his stash. It took me about 3 days and a few phone calls to sell all but one brick that I kept for myself. That seems to me the good thing about accumulating a stash. Recently he gave me all of his factory ammo, planning only to keep his own reloads. Taking it all to a local swap meet at my shooting range...we'll see how I do.

My preference for inexpensive .22 ammo pretty much goes Federal first, then Aguila second, followed quite a bit by Winchester in a distant third. Remington doesn't even make it on the list.

Look at what just showed up at the door.
5,000 rounds of Aguila Standard velocity.

Now it just needs to stop raining every day and dry up so that I can go shooting.

That's good stuff. My MKIV and 10/22 really liked Aguila SE SV.

While I'm comfortably stocked with 22lr ammo at the moment, what's the harm in ordering another case or two...

Your pictures are stunning Gunny. I'm toying with the idea of buying a case of Aguila too. That cardboard box looks a little flimsy to me and I wonder if UPS/FEDEX comes close to mashing the corner of a box now and then. It would certainly mash a carton of ammo too.. Maybe they oughta' use a wooden ammo crate?? Did your carton sustain any injury?
Wood crates would increase shipping costs and be a pain in the butt for most folks. I do think wood ammo crates are cool but I have 8 cases of ammo on the way and that much wood would be more bother...

Took a total count of my current level of 22lr about 7 k. So I thought is okay, then got an email sale ad from target sports ... seems as if they had cases of Aquila high velocity for $179.99 only 3.6 cents a round... well ...long story short...I just ordered a case.. my wife just smiled and said “well I guess you can’t pass up a good price”....she knows me well.

I wish I had a good and understanding wife like yours.
I had to get rid of my last two because they were spending up all my gun and ammo money. :)

You guyz oughta' be happy with the 4 cent ammo. Maybe I oughta' switch to 22!
I hafta' load my own to keep costs down. My last bullet purchase was 45 cents each. Brass was 95 cents each, and primer was 45 cents each. (Since then the primers have gone way down to about 20 cents.) I get 32 rounds from a pound of powder. Yes I spent $275 on a box of bullets!
My wife sez: "Sell the gun." I tell her the gun cost less than her,

I'd like to get a good gun for my wife. Anyone want to trade?

Would love to know what ammo they used at the factory when they shot this test target at 25 meters! I would be lucky to get that tight of a group at 25 feet!

With a Trailside? Mine likes Fed Auto Match, among others. My 41 doesn't like Fed Auto Match.

That's real good for 25 yards, but I am pretty sure mine will do it at 25 feet, although I haven't shot the .22 pistols in a bit.

I have some of that as well as the plated super extra high velocity. It is good stuff for the price IMHO, but with most of the cheaper .22 LR, it will throw more shots than the pricier stuff, even if you pistol likes it.

At another penny a round the Blazer has been more consistent in my guns.

You are not a nice man I want you to know!!! Your post just cost me slightly north of $350!!! :) Hehe... thanks for the head's up on the sale.

If I were to never buy another round of any caliber and never buy any more components, then 'do the math' based on my annual consumption, I shudder to think how many years it would take me to use it all,,,,

I don't go through a lot of 22, so 'case lots of different flavors' just isn't something that I need.
With that being said, Brownells has some decent codes/sales every now and then that get 'reasonably close' to case pricing w/o spending hundreds.

Well here’s the case I just ordered. Ordered it Sunday night, it arrived this morning Tuesday. Target Sports USA is great to deal with.

Agreed. This is the first time I have ordered from them, and the communication has been great, and free shipping as well!!! Nice.

I love Target Sports.
I have purchased numerous thousands of ammo from them.
Get on their email list.
Their sales are as good as it gets.

So I got my packages from Target Sports on Friday. What great service!!! Obviously, great prices are the reason we buy quite often, but when you combine both pricing AND service, it is a total home run.

I am very, very impressed and will buy from them again.

So... As we talk about "stocking up"... how much is "enough"? Different answer for each of us based on our shooting habits of course, but I can't that I will ever be satisfied that I have enough just in case.

So what do you think? Two years worth? Four years worth? More???

Yup.
I ordered a case of CCI SV for my target pistols. Due Tuesday.
I was going to get some Aquila HV for plinkers and ACE but they sold out. Brownells has it for little if any more money.

I think I finally settled on 4 years, as reported by my inventory spreadsheet, taking the lowest of the 3 time frame metrics I compute over (lifetime, last 365 days, last 90 days), with biases applied to each (high, middle, low weighting in that order.)
