What was the first handgun you ever owned and how old were you when you got it?

A Taurus M-66 .357 satin nickel 6” and an Iver Johnson TP-22 .22 LR.
I bought them both at the same time, right after I turned 21 in 1988.
The Taurus I sold a year or so later to help pay bills.
The Iver Johnson was stolen from my house in a burglary. I got it back about four years later and I still have it.

Stay safe.

Owned or bought? Technically my father purchased me (and my brother) our first handguns at the age of 2 (me) and 7 (brother). Two S&W model 66’s.

The first handgun I ever purchased was a Springfield XD w/ Thumb Safety in 45.

First one I owned was a Colt Trooper Mk III, my Dad gave it to me at 15. I only had it for about 3 years though. My super-duper compressed Blue Dot .357's broke the hammer on his Python in the middle of his yearly qualification (he was a cop) so he came home and grabbed the MkIII and finished qualifying. I never got it back, and I had to repair the Python. I did end up buying the Python and it off-duty counterpart, a 2.5" Python, about 2 years later, when his PD went to Glocks.

That's what I learned on as a kid, (Frontier Scout, actually) but Dad had sold it by the time I was a teenager. I have many fond memories of plinking at rats with it at the dump up at the cabin.

Hawes, Western Marshal, single action .22 rimfire.
Must have been about 23 at the time.
I’ve expanded on that some over the years. No, I don’t have it anymore, long gone! Traded it straight across for a Colt Huntsman. It was a PITA, the Mitchell, High Standard that replaced it is too! Kinda wished I had the Hawes back a time or two!

Mine was a Belgium made 1860 Colt replica when I was 18, When I turned 21 a surplus 1911A1.

Ruger Single Six Convertible with 22 mag cylinder. I bought it when I was stationed at Naval Air Station Norfolk, Va.

Colt Navy model 1861 .36 cal. cap & ball revolver replica. In the spring of 1969 at age 19 when I & a couple friends all purchased cap & ball revolvers from a sporting goods store. Shot it a lot all that summer until I went into the service in late August. After the service I never got back into it and sold it about a year later. Now I wish I still had it; it was fun to play with.

Not my photo. I just hijacked it.

Ruger Mk. II 5.5". I've put so many rounds through it over the years the trigger is now pretty good.

Edit to add: I was 26. My second gun I had ever paid my own money for. My first was a Remington 870 Express 12 gauge. Still have them both.
