I have a nice long gun carrier that can also carry pistols. The range bag I use for handguns is not designed as such, and leaves some things to be desired. I would continue to use it, but it is starting to get old with difficult zippers, loose seems, etc.
So if I were to invest in a bag specifically designed for handguns, which is the best for the money? I don't want the top of the line model because I'd just as soon use another gym type bag if the cost is too high. Just the best bang for the buck so to speak.

What Certaindeaf said. The Midway bag is excellent. I also have 2 of the smaller pistol bags they sell. Excellent also.

I'm looking at the Midway compact bag for $30.

Do any of you use a bag that is not a range bag style but works well. I've been looking at bags like this but can't decide.

I've been using a "Jeep" brand diaper bag that we never used when my daughter was younger. It works great and has lots of compartments.

Bucket Boss Long Boy, can carry an AR that is split in 2.
Can carry ears, eyes and a 1/2 doz handguns, plus six boxes of ammo.
The regular bucket boss tool bags will carry a couple of handguns and plenty of ammo with eyes and ears.

iSHot Pro SHooter. I've had it for over 15 years and it still looks new.

I have an Uncle Mikes that has a lot of compartments and has worked well. It slid off my shoulder once with a lot of weight in it. When I caught it by the strap it broke the plastic buckle. I fixed it with creative use of some hardware and it's been fine since. It just takes longer to remove the strap, which I never do anyway. Other than that it's a very sturdy bag.

Everyone I know who has or had a Midway range bag or soft case has been very, very pleased with it. They seem to be very well constructed. For the price nothing else I know of comes close in a real range bag. The only thing I don't like is the big Midway logo on it.

Midway

...

Umm, I have 8 handguns, of which I usually take 3 or 4, but with this Midway Range bag, I can fit all of them.. Get's heavy when you add ammo and the shoulder strap with metal talons works well..

49 bucks, but often goes on sale for 29 bucks..

Use the link above and you'll find it, as the bag shown with the link above in post #2 is much bigger with those front panel pockets which IMO are for rifle magazines vs a pure handgun bag as seen below which I luv it..

Only thing is I borrowed one of my small tool bags (black) and use it as my Ammo tot bag within the gun bag.

I have a wonderful, cordura, range bag from Ace Case that holds 3 pistols in padded compartments and a number of spare magazines, also in padded compartments with an outer compartment for other stuff. They have different models with varying degrees of pocketization.

I'm a commercial sewer so I know quality construction. I've had mine several years now and there is no sign of wear.

For the money I don't think you'll be likely to find a better value than one of these cases.

Thanks for the various pictures as it really helps to see what is inside the bag. Which model # is yours?

Their website leaves a lot to be desired because they only have one picture. Anyway, do you know if it is made in America?
For that matter, are any of these made here?

Great. Let's see it.

Most bags are reviewed on Youtube. Look there.

It's the bag your looking at via the link I gave, same bag called -

MidwayUSA Compact Competition Range Bag
Product Family #: 939167522

Comes in either black or the cameo

Make note of the dimensions of this bag vs larger one, to big IMHO, for just pistols shown in the first Midway link above mine..

Luck,

I have the Uncle Mike's bag as well. It works great so far and I've had it for years. I usually carry 3-5 handguns when I go to the range, from pocket pistols up to full size revolvers.

Have heard good things about the Midway bags.

Dillon Precision has a nice looking "modular range bag", maybe someone has one and can comment on it.

In addition to the Uncle Mikes, I have a Red Oxx Gator. It is a tad smaller and not specifically a range bag but works great when I don't need to lug as much stuff. It will easily hold 2-3 pistols in rug plus some mags, ammo and gun muffs. Red Oxx gear is made in Montana and IMHO is about the toughest stuff out there.

I'd like to see Red Oxx make a dedicated range bag but in the mean time a Gator or smaller Safari duffel would work out pretty well.

Ah, finally found it...

My Uncle Mike's Deluxe Range Bag was made in Indonesia.

I've had it for a long time. Hard telling where new ones are made but probably not in the US.

:uhoh:

A(as in one?) range bag? I usually end up takin' three on every range trip. Over the years, I have had many range bags, but what works best for me are bags made for the construction industry.(gatemouth, bucketboss, craftsman, etc.) They are generally better made with hard bottoms and better zippers and when found on sale are better priced than gun specific bags. Handguns go in a separate bag encased in gun rugs. Ammo and targets in one and muffs, tools, bags and rests in another. But then I go for a whole afternoon or morning and shoot @ outdoor ranges with not much for improvements or amenities than the berm. Which means taking along a portable bench also.

Are you sure it is a Midway bag?
No, I'm sure it's NOT a Midway bag, sorry if you took it that way. But I'd pay the NRA what they're asking for those simply because I like to support them. And like I said, they've had them forever, so they must be pretty well received.;)

I have a bunch of handguns I like to take to the range so I will need a decent size bag. This one is more than I want to spend, but what do you think of it?

Is there anything close but less money?

Also, are any of these bags suggested made in the USA? I'd be willing to pay a little more if they were.
The Midway USA bag in Post #2 is just like the one you posted on ebay. I've got the Midway bag too and it works great ... inside and out it looks just like the ebay bag but doesn't cost as much.
