Do you own firearms for which you have no ammo? I don't necessarily mean that you are temporarily out because of the shortages, but guns that you just don't ever stock ammo for.

I have noticed that as I accumulate more firearms in various calibers I simply don't keep ammo on hand for all of them. For example I have a trapdoor springfield that I have never gotten around to shooting and therefore never bought any .45-70. I also have a M44 and a Rem 788 in 6mm Remington that I got a great deal on, but I haven't shot either and really haven't felt it necessary to go buy any 7.62x54 or 6mm Rem. This is unusual for me because normally as soon as I get a new gun I will go get a good stock of ammo and shoot it within a month.

Just wondering if I am unusual or if other THR members have the same situation.

No, but I have ammo for guns I do not own or don't own any more.

In the vein of the thread, if I have something old or odd, I don't necessarily need to have ammunition for that particular firearm. I have enough that never or seldom get shot that I would not worry about having a gun with no ammunition.

Only for the time being!

I've picked up a few unspent rounds at the range; 6.8 SPC, 460 Rowland, 8x57. I also ended up with a case trimmer pilot for a .280 Remington.

Which means I'm obligated to acquire these four guns.

I have no guns without ammo for them. I do have 38 rounds of ammo for a rifle I don't own. I'm gonna turn it over to the family for whose rifle I loaded it when I get the chance.

Yessir, it'd be 32.20 Jacketed 'Rifle'' ammunition. What seems to be out there now is for powder puff CAS shooting.

salty

I have a Rem. XP 100 in 7MM Bench Rest that I have no ammo for nor can I find any. One of those thing you think you can get ammo anytime and then they discontinue it.

I don't have any rifles without ammo but some are still under development. When purchasing a new rifle I normally load up at least 50 rounds of test ammo. I may end up loading several hundred rounds before finding a decent load. When I do find a good load, I will load at least 50 rounds to keep on hand.

I've got a trapdoor Springfield in .45-70 for which I have no ammo.

I had a CZ-50 and CZ-70, and hadn't had any .32acp in years. Ended up selling both of those last year.

I do not yet have ammo for the Dutch Beaumont that I picked up in January, but I do have 40 rounds on order and have located dies for reloading, but I want to be sure the brass is good quality first. You are missing out on good shooting if you haven't shot your 6 mm Remington yet. I believe it is a better round than the .243 Winchester it shares projectiles with.

I got the 6mm from a buddy that needed the cash and made me a good deal. Doesn't really have a place in my collection so I will probably end up trading it away for something I like a bit better.

I have a vintage s&w no2. Takes 38 s&w. I have no ammo for it. Nor do I plan on getting any ammo. It has been handed out a few times in the family

I have a 50 box of .22lr which I tacked onto an order with Cabelas to bring the order price up high enough to qualify for free shipping.
I figured that it was inevitable that I would end up owning a .22 at some point, but I still haven't bought one yet!
A .22 rifle will be my next firearm purchase, but with the crazy prices of .22lr lately, I might have the ammo made into jewelery instead of shooting it :D

Nope. In fact, I have sold a few BECAUSE I couldn't find ammo and they weren't worth reloading for. I don't collect paperweights.

I've had a die set for 222 Rem Mag for a few years, but no gun to go with it. I'm sure that if I ever got rid of the dies, I'd immediately stumble across a great rifle chambered in 222mag. 'Course, then I'd never be able to find brass for the thing...

Also, have a half box of 30-06 ammo that my brother gave me when he sold his rifle. He gave it to me because I have grampa's old '06, but I've never fired it.
