So you think a half inch at 50yds is crappy results?

I don't know.. we have shot a mix of CCI (Mini-mags, Stingers) and Remington (Vipers & the green pail LRs). Very minimal failures, less than 1 per 150.

The only beef I might have is that the green bucket ammo would, on occasions, spit small bits of hot debris back at me. And that was out of the SR22. Annoying to say the least.

I've had no more misfires with Remington than with Winchester, Federal, or Armscor. I noticed that there were misfires, failure to feed and failure to eject with my newer Ruger and Walther .22's, and none with my 1970's Colt Huntsman and no misfires with my 60's S&W model 17 .22. Just sayin, I not so sure its always the fault of the ammo. I also have a hard time believing consistently putting 10 rounds into 1-2" group at 200 yards.

I used to avoid the Goldens. But for the last year they have been plentiful at Cabellas. I go thru about 6 bricks a year shooting prairie dogs for Colorado ranchers.

So I bought a bunch of bricks.

( I want to say this first about Federal Automatch: They are consistent in my PD-Killer CZ 452 ZKM. )

I love Federal Bricks, but I rarely see them for sale.

Back to Goldens. Many of my shots are between 70 and 130 yards Some are as far as 210. Few one-shot-kills, but those happen.

I am making comfortably good shots now with Goldens compared to 4 years back.

Here is one from last weekend at about 70 yards:

The photo is an extreme ZOOM on my classy cell phone camera.

and there were some at 100 yards on the smaller spring pups.

Remington's famous golden bullet gave me misfires back in the 1960's. I thought it was normal until CCI came out with their stingers around 1974. I think I've had one misfire since, and it was Federal bulk. BTW some of the finest bulk ammo I ever shot was the Thunderbolt. Go figure.

I have always had good experience with Remington Golden Bullets and Thunderbolts. Thunderbolts were always my choice of 22 LR. Last time I have bought either has been about a year ago. No issues with any of those either.

Edit. I do get a dud once in while but no more than with other brands.

I've had about the same experience with Remington Golden bullets. In fact they are my preferred .22 ammo. They are the one bulk bullet I've found that gives me reliable function in (2) 10-22 rifles and a Walther P22 pistol. That's my main criteria for 22 ammo since I'm usually just shooting them for fun. As long as they're minute of bottle or can, I'm happy. The worst that I've used in terms of function is Federal, either in bulk or 50 round boxes.

Seems like that's they way .22 firearms go, work great with one ammo and lousy with another. Find a brand that works well and stick with it.

"Lol, Why are you comparing precision target ammo for long range with Bulk plinking ammo? I doubt many pistol shooters, that use 22.cal for training spend that kind of money."

My point being if you buy cheap crappy ammo you should expect cheap crappy results, and don't complain about it.

What else you got?

What else do I got? Lol, not much, just happy I do not have the bad results you have had with bulk ammo. Laughing all the way from bank. You might want to try airguns. Some really nice Precision target rifles and Pistols out there and a tin of Premium pellets are a huge saving over the amount of money you are spending. That is if you shoot often. I shoot a lot of 22.cal pistols for training point and shoot and a lot of pellet guns. For rifles I also shoot and love Pellet rifles. Like my LGV 22.cal. Total precision. A tin of great quality pellets run less than $20.00 for 500. Just a thought. That is about all I got.

Bad news I'm back to justify my Statement " golden bullets are junk" Gun S & W 422 10 round clip, 5 failed to go bang. The firring pin mark in the head looked good, when the shock of disbelief subsided I reloaded them and tried them gain still no go. I see some winchester
M22 sub sonic at 7 to 8$ for a box of 50. I'm loading and shooting my High Point modal C9 nine mm for now.

As far as 22 in general they are better now than 50 years ago.

There I said it, I believe it and stick by it.

I'm back to justify mine as well. Put about 300rds of new production GB's through three different guns this week with nary a problem.
