How to get the "slap" out of an AR15?

greased spring and an H2 buffer cleared the problem for me. i was irritated with the sproing sensation but not enough to break my cheekweld.

I am debating on trying to flip one of my Savage Axis rifles and getting a Ruger AR15 for coyote hunting and maybe woodchuck hunting. I try and love the AR but I find I cant shoot them accurately because of the loud and forceful slap I get from the recoil tube or whatever its called. Is there a way to eliminate this? My buddy has a Ruger that has an adjustable target trigger, magpul stocks, etc. and I cant hit squat with that thing. I notice I jerk alot with them and its because of the slap they make in the stock and tube.

I'm mainly looking at Ruger MPR. I would prefer something in the heavy barrel range if possible. I figure more stability with shooting longer ranges?
The slap you're feeling is the result of three things, individually or in combination-
- Over gassing
- Carbine weight buffer
- Under sprung action spring

Carbine weight buffers are simply too light, even when the AR is gassed correctly. They don't have enough mass to damp the impact. H buffers are an improvement, H2 buffers more so and A5H2 and rifle buffers best of all.

As for the sproing, two things-
- Some stocks transmit more of the sproing than others. In my experience, Magpul stocks do a good job isolating the shooter from the sproing.
- Focus on the shot and the sproing fades into the background.

Try different ear muffs. When shooting an AR, I find some muffs more comfortable than others. Some muffs pinch my cheek with each shot. Others bang into the stock.

The slap needs to be addressed. It can be just painful enough to break your concentration and make shooting unpleasant.

I find the buffer tube/spring noise annoying.
But am focused on my target so think past it.
No flinch, no pull off the stock.
Just shoot more and learn to ignore it.

Yup, earpro contacting the tube/stock will amplify it.
I wear Peltors for everything (non electronic).
Work past it. Focus.

Odd, super focused on geese coming in over dekes, yet have heard my 1100 magnums clunky cycle between rips.
Shot a triple. Maybe I was excited? ;)
