Why are regional accents part of this discussion? Is the OP insinuating that there is a correlation between accent and competency? If not , then the speech characteristics of the Ruger staffers are irrelevant.
Having deliberately chosen that particular service center , were you expecting an Australian accent? Greek , perhaps?
he recounts being attached to an Army reserve unit from Arkansas on one deployment. Said he needed an interpreter.
I own quite a few Ruger firearms, both rifle and handgun. I have never had to call Ruger.
I grew up in west Texas and do not have an accent. Can't say the same for folks from other areas of our great country.
The real need for an interpretor is when you speak to a Cajun conservation officer. I stopped for fuel one time in Louisiana. He saw the fire and EMS plate and Michigan license plate. In Chris Kyle's book "American Sniper" he recounts being attached to an Army reserve unit from Arkansas on one deployment. Said he needed an interpreter. And he was from Texas.
On a side note, a north Georgia accent is apparently exactly like Texas. My wife and I have traveled a bit around the USA and we are often asked if we're from Texas. South Georgia is completely different. For north Georgia think Jeff Foxworthy or the movie Deliverance. For south Georgia think Paula Deen, or the movie Gone with the Wind.
I have a Bx 25 mag for my 10/22. I can not get though a full mag without a failure. So i called Ruger about it. They said send the mag in. And they will replace it. New one is doing the same thing. And again they want me to send it in. Im not going to bother. I'll have more in postage than the mag cost. I read the issues im having is common with them. I tried all the ''fixes'' too. The 10 round mags are flawless.
9 hours later and still no email said:did you check your spam and junk mail? i have had many times been waiting on messages, thinking they were not sent only to find them in spam/junk mail.
When I moved to SE Iowa from the Northeast my new friends said I talked funny. Told me they didn't have an accent, I did. I've had two good experiences dealing with Ruger CS. As I read the OP's post after possibly misdirecting him once they agreed to ship him what he needed and hadn't sent him a tracking number yet. He probably has the tracking info by now. QC on the other hand is a problem a lot manufacturers seem to have now or the internet just makes it seem that way.You betcha'! Lived in Iowa long enough to be very familiar with the Wisconsin and Minnesota dialects.
I received a Ruger American Rimfire with no crown machining whatsoever. They threaded the barrel but never crowned it. They supplied a replacement, but was told I had to pay to return the dud because it was more than two years after the gun was made. Not sure how this 10/22 made it through final inspection . That was the varmint/target model, for the price I expected much more . How can a damaged crown not be noticed ? I asked if they had issues with sabotage, never did hear back on that one .
