I don't post here much anymore, But thought i would post this:
I did some pattern testing with my new Judge Public Defender I bought the other day, Enjoying it as a fun handgun. So I decided to shoot some groups with it, using the Federal 000 buck Defensive handgun, These are 4 pellets of 000 buck shot stacked ontop of eachother in a was designed to keep them in a tighter pattern than a standard sporting buckshot load and it does seem to work very well.
Note: I was below the target for most of these shots, as I didn't go all the way to my range to test this, just halfway up where there is an old wooden post.
It also seems to shoot slightly left.
3 yards (9 feet), supposedly where most encounters happen.
7 yards (21 feet)
10 yards (30 feet)
A second 10 yard group, this time more on level with the shooter.
And finally a 15 yard (45 feet) Group.
Not bad for the smallest barrel judge, The public defender has a 2.5" barrel. It also appears that the federal isn't affected by the rifling of the judge until distances of 15 yards (45 feet) Or longer. Which would seem to be outside of normal defensive use distances, After that I would suggest using .45 LC.
