I'm planning on building a 1911 for bullseye (DIY) and somewhere in the back of my mind recall reading about mods done to the 1911 to get it to better feed SWCs. Anyone have the details on what exactly these modifications are?

thanks

Yes, I know. Simple stuff really. Throat the barrel right, do the feed ramp right, break the sharp edges on the front of the barrel lugs facing forward, make sure your firing pin hit is dead center when you fit the NM barrel and bushing, chamfer the firing pin hole in the breechface, adjust the extractor tension just right after smoothing the breechface, tune the ejector, take the rails down and pinch the slide in a huge vice at the last 1 1/2 inches so that you have the lock up just right, make sure there is absolutely no play in the action of the gun except back and forth. Use a Bo-mar rear sight in a lo-mount cut and sight it in! Front sight height should be about.0200 and about .0110 wide. Adjust the trigger pull to about 2 lbs or less. Shoot about 2000 rounds to break it in so the slide will go into battery without pushing it with your thumb, and go kick some butt at the Bullseye Match! I use to build these things years ago. I am sure glad I don't do that anyome!
