Judgeholden,

The story of the light lug is limited. They are called ".38/44 Heavy Duty Pre-Model 20, Special Light Lug Variation, Caliber .38 S&W Special" (quoting from the factory letter). It was shipped from our factory on August 8, 1960, and delivered to H.H.Harris Co., Chicago, IL. The records indication that this revolver was shipped with a 4" barrel, blue finish and a special light lug variation, and checkered walnut grips. This shipment was for 12 units of this special variation all in the same configuration.

As Iggy said, it looks like a big M&P with no under barrel lug that would be on a normal 38/44 4" HD.

The shot above is the light lug 38/44 HD 4"

The Shot below are 38/44 HD's 4" just for comparison.

Fair year for my "needs"
Sig P239 9mm
S&W mod 10-7 .38spc 4" nickel
S&W mod 29-3 .44mag 4" nickel
Ruger Police Service Six 4" stainless mfg1986
Ruger Security Six 4" blue mfg 1978

Love those 4" wheel guns

I didn't buy a single gun. I bought all kinds of accessories (holsters, magazines, ammo, etc.), but not one single firearm.

Oh, man...let's see...

Springfield TRP Operator, full rail version. Always wanted a TRP.
Sphinx SDP
Glock 34 Gen 4
Sig P250 9mm (not too fond of that one)
CZ Accu-Shadow (love it)
S&W Model 41 from Clark Custom Guns - great except it catches one or two pieces of brass per magazine
S&W 640 Pro. Meh.
Colt Mustang 380

Next year won't be so intensive, but I'll still snap up a few.

This year saw several new tools in my safe:
22TCM (combo, w/ 9mm barrel)
Smith 29-2 (used, of course, but in very nice condition)
Smith 67-1 (also used, but sweet)
Ruger Mk III 22/45 w/ red dot sight (also used)
Ruger Single Seven (.327 Fed Mag)
Remington R-1 Enhanced
Sar ST10 9mm

I think I'm done for a while..

No new guns, ammo, or accessories but did add a couple of new pistol safes to free up some space in the other two safes I already have.

Hi...

Didn't buy a great many guns this year.

i found a Dan Wesson .22LR DA revolver at a local gun show this spring/summer. Probably my best buy of the year.

Bought myself a used Ithaca M37 12ga pump-action shotgun and my son a Mossberg 12ga autoloader.

Spent most of my fun money this year on primers, powder and .22LR ammunition (when I could find them). I have enough of each to get through the next couple of years, if I shoot an average amount (6-8 thousand centerfire handgun rounds per year).
My son and I went through about 4000 .22Lr rounds this year. a few more than usual...he got an H&K .22LR semiautomatic carbine last year for Christmas and he did a decent job of getting it broke in this summer. With .22LR becoming more available lately, I would not be surprised if that number rose significantly this coming year.

Even with the shortages of .22LR ammunition and the amount of it we shot, I was still able to end the year with more than I started out with.

Zastava M70a 9MM tokarev, heavy but slim enough for carrying, managed to get a nice leather holster for it too. Named her Stasya (Resurrection).

Added a S&W PC952-2 Long Slide to my list above before the year ended. :D

Lets see if I can remember correctly...
two 586-2's, a 4" and a 6"
winchester 9422
norinco uzi,
replica bp revolver
6" colt trooper mkIII
colt 1991A1 commander
Sig P250c
Remington 799 in 7.62x39
Model 36 flat latch
10-3 s&w
I think that's it.

Traded away a couple of Kahrs, and sold some .22lr to fund some of that though.

This was my favorite. It's a Taurus 44 special snubbie - great sights, trigger, and accuracy, has functioned perfectly. It fits my hand just right and is a lot of fun to shoot.

This is a nice one, too. It's a Tanfoglio Witness (CZ75 clone) originally from Italy. If I understand correctly they were sent to Israel for shooting clubs or other training purposes, then eventually ended up as surplus here in the US.

It fits my hand perfectly and I love the hefty weight. The sights, trigger, and accuracy are great. It is now my favorite 9mm.
