Aren't caliber wars fun?
Like what most people have said here, I am of the firm opinion that any gun will do, if you will do. I also believe whatever you carry ought to be the most powerful thing you can comfortably carry -- why limit yourself?
That said, would I carry a .32 ACP? No -- for the simple reason that it only comes in a bottom-feeding configuration. Yeah, yeah, I know. I just dig revolvers. I'm more comfortable with them. Looking to purchase a small .38 special for pocket carry, and a .22 mag for deep concealment.
That said, my primary daily carry now, regardless of what I am wearing, happens to be a 6-shot .357 Magnum snubnose. I'm also a pretty big guy (6' 4") so that makes hiding things a lot easier. An untucked shirt can cover an amazing amount of firepower.
Carry what you like and like what you carry. The main thing is not to get killed for lack of shooting back.
