Regarding post #8, I agree that wearing a badge openly does defeat the purpose of concealed carry. Even cops, either plain clothes or off duty, do not display their badges. I recall one of regular poster here, Jeff White, saying unless he's working a detail, his badge is concealed and that there are reasons nobody wants to "get made" for a cop. Yet, every time this subject comes up, we see a flurry of guys sarcastically saying "so let me get this straight; I'm supposed to conceal my gun but I'm supposed to wear this big ol' Marshall Dillon badge on my chest that says I'm carrying concealed". And I'm like "ummm, no" because if such became "the deal" then there'd be guidelines, probably similar to agents and officers, for how the badge would be carried and used. Unless I missed something, none of those guidelines would include unnecessarily flashing the badge around. But at this time, such is not "the deal", so why worry about it.
Personally, I wouldn't give two bits for a fake badge, but I agree that it's pretty cheesy and in some way it's also funny. I guess the funny part is how the mall ninjas are eating this stuff up.
