Since my post vanished almost as soon as it went up I'll assume that was a yes

That's weird now it's back

Anyway speaking of posers don't forget LOKIUNCIA

I too am a sniper. I have been lying on my deck in full camfage with my
Remibgton 700, .308 with 48" bull
barrel. I have been waiting all morning for General Gray Squirrel to show himself so that I can get a head shot.......

ah yes komrade. I am sniper. have been waiting for american pig prarie dog to show face. will nail him to wall with m44.

Have learned much from LOKIUNCIA on youtube. have killed many elk in siberia and can kill pop bottle cap at 300 yards with a sharpened stick.

Rockwell, I will neither confirm nor deny...but the user profile of the member you mentioned is here. I will say the member in question was publicly challenged to provide credentials, since he repeatedly made claims based on his background. No, it wasn't the same drunk (apparent) streetperson who sat next to us and began griping about the Georgia no-smoking laws, which he of course didn't know about because he'd been deployed.

On the internet, no-one knows you're a dog, or a 12-y/o. Staff has no ambition to persecute anyone for mere stupidity or immaturity, but posting dangerous suggestions and basing these suggestions on one's supposed background in LE or the military is certain to gain some scrutiny.

If you ever hear that crap, you can rest assured they are not the real deal. My wife & I had a great couple as close friends. (This was 18 years ago). The husband was a special forces guy, the real deal, and he very politely refused to discuss it. Ever. His wife finally gave a snipit of history for him as a sniper and instructor; the closest he ever came to acknowledging his own exploits was "It's not that big a deal, you just have to eat bugs on occasion". That was the extent of his self engrandisment. He is a PHD / college professor now, and knowing him, I know for a fact none of his students will ever know that part of his past.

If I tell a story I usually give location and if I think the other parties won't mind I'll list names. I once gave my name and address to another member of another firearm forum named saiga12.com. I was chastised for doing this. I still do not know what the big deal was but it seems anonymity is the norm on these forums.

A few months back I thought a member on this forum was calling me a mall ninja so I scaned in a copy of my Indiana Law Enforcement Diploma and posted it. I do not have anything to hide and did not see the harm in it. I'm sure some individuals have thought some of the stories I have told about law enforcement are incredulous but any experienced LEO knows how truly stupid (some) people can be.

Ive looked for a while on THR and I cant find anyhting on Gecko45, I take it that this member ID was deleted. It sounds like such a good read, could anyone point me in the direction of the thread that is so humorous?

Sometimes I help out with some snipping.

At a vet's office. You can imagine what gets snipped.

Does that make me the spotter for the snipper?

This "sniper" doesn't have little animals made out of plastic explosive laying around his apartment does he?

He's not overly obsessed with killing gophers is he??

License to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations. Man, free to kill gophers at will. To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit - ever. They're like the Viet Cong - Varmint Cong. So you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower.

My favorite military poser story involves a guy claiming to be Delta Force.

I was going to junior college in yet another of my failed attempts at a higher education. This had to be the first or second day of class. I was wearing a short sleeve shirt and the sleeve had creeped up enough to show the bottom of my USMC tat. The kid sitting next to me says out of the blue "You were in the Corps, eh?" I realize that he is looking at my arm, pull the sleeve down and say "yep." He goes on to tell me that he is Delta Force and is really hoping to finish a semester this time. I say "This time?" He goes "Yeah, it seems like every time I try to go to school, something happens in the world and my pager goes off and I have to drop whatever I am doing and report to Panama, Grenada, whatever..." I had to try very hard to keep from laughing. "A pager?" I said. "Yeah, when it goes off, I have to report." I just said something like "Wow, that must really be tough." and he eventually stopped talking.

He stopped coming to class shortly after that. I figure his pager went off.

Also, I think the movie "Navy SEALS" was out close to that time and I think there was a scene in that movie where somebody is getting married and the whole SEAL team is attending the wedding. Their pagers all go off and they have to leave right in the middle of the wedding. I think the guy in my class had probably watched that movie and worked it into his D-boy persona.

Another of my favorites was a co-worker who claimed to be Air Force. I never questioned him on it until I heard him telling a fellow co-worker that after the Air Force, he joined the Marines. I asked him where he went to boot. He said "Oh, I didn't have to go. I had special training in the Air Force and didn't have to go through Marine boot camp." I lost my cool and sort of attacked him. People broke us up before any serious damage could be done. I don't mind if you lie about this kind of stuff, but I guess I take special exception to people who lie about being Marines. Anyway, this guy and I continued to work together, but he knew that I knew he was a fake and I called him out peacefully on any occasion that I could. He was just in total denial.

Hey carl, you already screwed up bro.

http://www.google.com/search?q=alger...ient=firefox-a

Let's hope your friend doesn't decide to google the two words algeria and sniper. Check out the first result!

I'm not worried about it. If he was telling the truth then he'd just come on the board and defend himself. If he's wrong well, then he won't do anything. Plus he doesn't know where I live. :neener:

i have met one honest to god no foolies or BS sniper only once and he REALLY didnt want to talk about his experiences he wasnt a bragging type and didnt want to glorify the removal of human life he only really spoke of his actions once and almost every statement ended with it was my job and it had to be done
he never acted proud about his actions or that he was supperior or more of a BA than anyone else last i heard from him he had been honerably disscharged and is now going to college and living a normal life sans tactical gear

see the real deal knows its real the rest HAVE to prove it
its like the old addage when weak act strong when strong act weak

I went to PLDC with a sniper. He was an MP who said he had gone through sniper school. I'm going to assume he wasn't making it up because the Cadre (obviously) had his 201 file and no one ever called him on it.

Unfortunately, too many posers don't grow up or out of it.
I'm related to one.

He can clear a room in minutes just by opening his mouth because everyone who knows him, knows him.

He's never been able to maintain employment under someone else, because eventually he just wears out the welcome and he gets run off. So, he works for himself. He has his own business, and he can be extremely successful at times, but he eventually destroys his own credibility and his business fails, then he moves, and starts over in a new town.

My wife calls him "The Mouth". I simply can't stand to have a discussion with him because at some point, he'll begin upping the level of BS to a nauseating rhythm.

Years ago, we worked together, and I had had enough and confronted him on it. All of it. He was backed into a corner, and I forced him to admit that he's full of it. But it changed nothing.

He's about 40-years old now, and probably more fake than ever. It's frustrating seeing a loved one with such a self destructive habit like that. He gives nobody any reason to respect him.

It's just a sad, sad pity because they never realize that everyone is onto them. They continue to believe that they've still got us fooled, or maybe they think it is all real (their lies), or they just blame everyone other than themselves.

I don't know if he really respects himself. From the way he presents himself, he's head-over-heels in love with himself.

Damn, sounds like someone I knew from south-eastern PA. Said poser was always talking big about himself. Some time after I got out, he told me that he had been a FR, GB, & SEAL, plus Nam (as of 1977, he was 20-21 y/o - go figure). Joe just had to be BMOC.

Later he came to TX but eventually ran back to PA after proving that he didn't know how to shingle a roof -- he had laid the shingles end-to-end on a roof for a 20x24 bldg; when he realized what he had done he split. When the owner got home and saw Joe's work, he wanted to kill him.
